Is this a good workout? - Friday, January 23, 2009 7:34 PM ( #1 )

I am new to this site but I need some advice on if this is a good workout:

Monday - 3 Chest, 2 triceps
Tuesday - 3 Legs, 3 Abs, 3 Shoulders
Wednesday - 3 Back, 2 Biceps, 1 Lower Back
Thursday - off

(3 days on - 1 day off)

For chest and tri's it was easy to pick the exercises.

Monday -
Chest: Push Ups3-4 sets
Decline DB press 3-4 sets
Incline fly 3-4 sets

Triceps -
Skullcrushers 2-3 sets
Bar pushdown 2-3 sets

does that look good?

Also, can anyone help me out on good exercises for legs, abs, shoulders, back, biceps, and lower back?

I'm just gonna tell you flat out, no. Just do Starting strength, or if your intent of a split then atleast imo you picked a good split. I did a 3 on 1 off chest/tri back/bi legs/shoulders, works pretty good. I'd keep low volume though so here are the best exercises for the major muscles in my opinion :
Chest: Flat bench
Tri's: Weighted dips
Back: Deadlift
Quads: Back squats (well front squats are actually a better quad builder but overall back squats are better)
Hammy's: Leg curls
Calf's: calf raises
Shoulders: standing OH press
Biceps: Weighted/BW chin ups

Maybe do like 4x8 for sets/reps.
Goals by end of 2009:
Bench 205
Squat 255 ATG
Squat Clean 185
