Is this a good plan to cut wieght? - Monday, August 23, 2004 11:39 PM ( #1 )
It was given to me by my old football coach who used to compete in bodybuilding at the time I was 6'0 270something pounds I told him I wanted to lose fat while adding muscle.

But that was 2 years ago, now I am 6'0 248lbs and I run everyday Monday is a mile run, Tuesday is the hill run, Wednsday is the off day, Thursday is the mile run, Friday is the hill run again.
Followed by my ab work I do 4 times a week as well...
And also a pushup routine....

The last time I lifted wieghts my maxes were
Bench- 240
Squat- 430
Clean-225

*highschool

Now I been in college and finally have time to hit it again. So wothout further adue here is the diet.....

6:30am Protien Drink/ Piece of fruit

9:30am Sandwich->Meat and Cheese (Beef,Ham,Turkey,Chicken)
*no bologna or salami etc...

11:30am *lunch* No fried food, No pasta, No potatoes, or bread.
Veggies/Fruit-> All you want
Salad->All you want
Meat->All you want

3:30pm Protien Drink

6:00pm Dinner same as lunch

Bedtime (if a must) Protien drink

->No candy, donuts, chips, etc...

*Mind you I am taking ON's 100% Whey protien......

My build is not that of a fat boy I played defensive line so I am just big but athletic, through the running alone I have lost alot of wieght. But now I want to lift wieghts and diet while taking my protien. I ran all summer long....

And I will be on the same running regimine during the workout period as well.....trying to get to 238....just 10lbs I want to lose..

There's no such thing as "all you want" when cutting. Any excess calories will be stored as fat. And too little, you end up losing precious muscle.

If you goal is to lose 10 lbs. That outta be easy enough. Just get enough cardio and calculate the diet so you don't end up overeating.

yea i would cut down on the fruit as it will stunt your fat burning so i would cut it down to about 2 fruits a day and yea "all you want" aint somethin you want. Count calories and you should be fine. Also that bed time shake is a must so take it as to prevent catabolism

Maybe I'm putting words in his mouth, but I read "all you want" as "until you're satisfied." What I would recommend is eat a sensible amount of meat and maybe a banana and then wait 20 minutes, and then eat as much salad as you want to feel satisfied and not feel deprived of food, which is the downfall of many lower-calorie diets. If you focus more on fats and proteins and take in a negligible amount of carbs, cutting sessions can be extremely fun times filled with awesome foods.

I personally use a low-carb lifestyle since my uncle died of a heart complication at the age of 38. I can bulk up no problem with it, and it really is nice when you can't train a bodypart (I had knee surgery 2 months ago and was unable to do legs for about 10 months total). You won't lose muscle mass when on a lower-carb diet from personal experience and those I've seen around me, only the excess pounds.

And when you want to bulk, simply eat like a madman, you'll love it.

Favorite food: mashed cauliflower and butter, looks just like potatos and tastes a whole lot better with the butter.

i'm a big fan of eating all the time so i think eating all you want of fruits and veggies is good as long as you mean that your complete meal is to eat until you're full, meaning, lessening other food groups. keep up the cardio but you work on your abs a lot. it's a common misconception that more ab work will make them more defined. Lack of definition is due to the layer of fat that covers them and anyone (even pros) really only need to work abs 2-3 times a week. Other than that you should be alright losing that last 10 pounds.

I don't know about you guys, but I have a hard time eating enough food throughout the day and I am never hungry. I also do not take protein shakes as I try to get my nutrition from real food. I am on a bulking diet, so naturally I need an extra 500 calories a day to keep honest. However, a steady state diet would still be comfortable. If you have a plan for exactly what percentage you use to break down your fats, carbs, and proteins, you shouldn't have a problem. I would avoid any depravation or excess of any of these essential ingredients as they all have their uses. I take in about 30g protein, 45g carb, and 25g fat with each of five meals and a post workout meal being different and much more. I find that if you stay away from saturated and animal fats as well as high GI carbs (except after workout) your body responds by letting you know more accurately when you need to eat. When you eat real, good, unprocessed food your body works the way it should and you can control it much easier.
