Goodmorning all!
I'm 21 years old. I'm six feet tall. I weigh 190lbs, my lean wieght is about 172/173 lbs. I have done pt (physical training), for the past three years. The trouble is it's mostly pushups, situps, and running around three miles, and that's it. While it keeps me in relativley good shape I'm not satisfised with the way my body looks. I've just gotten motivated recently. About two months ago I decided to do something about it. I don't have much as far as definition is concerned, a little, but not much; my strength is probabaly above average, but my dedication to things I start is very impressive. I did cardio for the first month (last month), and I just started addiding weights into the equation. I've lifted before not very seriously, but in high school I played basketball and was taught (atleast what I think), proper technique, diet, and lifting basics. I've applied what I feel to be basic theory into my regimen and I've gotten quick results in these past two months. My delima, however, is that I don't have alot of free time. I'm currently serving with the 3rd Infantry Divsion in Baghdad, Iraq. My sleeping, eating, and excersize, routine is anything but. It changes daily, so sleeping 6-8 hours a day is someimtes possible, but not always, and eating 6-8 small meals a day, well lets just say I'm doing the best that I can. I use nuts, and dried fruit for in-between meals, because the DFAC (or place where they serve chow is only open certain hours of the day), and it's not like I can go to a local grocery store to get what I need. Anyways, I'm getting gains with what little I can do; 45-60 minutes of fat burning cardio (130 targeted heart rate), 6-7 times a day, and lifting weights with basic principle in mind 3setsx8-10reps, roughly 6 times a week. My really only question (thus far), is I don't feel like I'm working hard enough any more. What I mean is, after my workouts, when I first started, I was sore, achy, and I could FEEL that I worked hard. After talking to the PA and DOC here on post I was given some tips in reducing that pain, i.e. cardio after lifting, loads of water, 5-6 small meals a day (30% carbs, 30%, protien, and 30% fat), and a some other stretching tips. Well they've helped, but now I'm not sure if it's the change or I'm just not pushing myself as hard. I feel as if I am, and I'm gaining in wieght and varrying my routine (well I've changed it twice now), my question is why don't I feel the "burn" anymore? Also any other just general tips. I'm not trying to impress anyone, but I would like to do my job better and have my physique benefit from the effort. My realistic goals are to be roughly 180-185 lbs with around 8-10%body fat in about 4 months, is that too far fetched, or can I acheive more?
Thanks for the ear, and I hope this site gives me tools to further my healty lifestyle.
Thanks again
