hello, andrew here, a freshman at penn state university

i've been training since 8th grade or so

off and on because of football and wrestling during high school

i weigh 285 lbs and i'm 6', around 25%-30% body fat which is normal for an offensive lineman

i only max bench 305 lbs, work out with 225 lbs 5x5 (move up 5 lbs every week)

i jog anywhere from a mile to two miles or more atleast three times a week (run a mile in less than 7:30)

Hi,I'm 25 years old and have trained before being very satisfied with my results as well. In 2002 I began to train quite seriously and by 2003 I took my training very very seriously. That summer of 2003, I worked a labor intensive job with a strong physical input required (carrying and climbing up and down huge ladders and scaffolding etc) then went to the gym directly after. My training was balanced, hit all muscle groups, did abs, did interval cardio and worked hard and results came fast. The point I am making here is that I was very very active and my metabolism was very high.

Those were the university days, now I have effectively become a pencil pusher and work in an office 40 hours per week, and my lifestyle has changed. I had a few injuries lately , shoulder and knee, which hindered any kind of training for much of last year. NOW I AM BACK and I have gained 25-30lb in fat making my BFP 23% (if I have done my calculations correctly), whats more is this added weight, I believe is causing my previously injured knee not to feel 100%.

My goals are to:
reduce BFP
not sacrifice existing muscle
maintain nutritional diet required
eventually build balanced incremental growth
sustain all of the above

I have already looked through many of the forums and am quite impressed from the moderators and the level of people who participate as they have been inspiring and motiviational to me. I very much am looking forward to using this site and the forums and I hope that I may through my experience and knowledge share and contribute to others like me who seek information.

Iv'e been working out now and then since August, sometimes for a week basis, but most recently ( about 3 weeks ago ) started on a real excersize plan. I still need some help with my workout, so any tips ( I am made a topic ) would be nice!

By the way, is smiling counted as an excersize?

That's going to require a sex change operation before you can "officially" be considered a good nake.

hmmm, i never saw this before. my name is tim, 39 years old. 6'3" 265lbs. have had every injury in the book. (2 ankle, 4 shoulder, 4 knee, 2 hand surgeries, chronic back pain) was a fantastic athlete when i was younger, which leads me to injuries now b/c i think i can still do some of the things i used to. anyway, im looking to get involved in SOMEHTING. some kind of activity i can be "passionate" about. i havent found it in years, and i have no one around me that has any interest in ANYTHING. So, first, i have to change my lifestyle though. id like to get down to 225lbs, but more importantly just feel good. im coming off 2 ankle surgeries (dec22/04), one being a complete reconstruction, so ive had plenty of time to lay here thinking. i really WANT to get on the right path. i need to find some interests though. cant play hockey or baseball or motocross anymore.... uuggh.

Hi, my name is William. I'm a sixteen-year-old high school junior, about 5'11.5" and 165 pounds. I was looking around to see where I could get information that would let me make a weight-lifting program and I found this place. I have never really weight-lifted in my life, although I dabbled in it every Friday in ROTC last year; I was amazed to discover that I was a lot stronger than I thought. My personal goals are to get back up to at least the level I was back then with my legs, and be able to bench at least 150 pounds (I had trouble benching 85 pounds, although i could easily leg press three and a half times by body weight). I doubt any of you would know me, seeing as I doubt there's anyone from the Sonic community around, but hey. Hello, everybody.

Hi everyone,
My name is Mike I'm 21, 6'3" and about 175 lbs. I actually just found this forum when I was looking for info on No-Xplode, well I bought it today so we'll see what happens. I'm trying to get into shape for a physical agility test I'll have to take early this summer as the second step to beciming a police officer. I've been working out for a few months but I don't really know what I'm doing, so I figured this would be a good place to look.

Hello, In short I've worked out off and on for about 4 years. I have improved some but by now I thought I would have pumped up a lot more than I have. I'm not to trying to get into contest or get that gargantuan look but just kind of like that Rocky Balboa look when he trimmed way down and got really ripped.

Oh I can't do the egg yolk thing though

Hello, my name is Phil. I am 18 years old and just joined a gym 3 weeks ago. I started going to the gym not knowing any routine other than a upper body day and a lower body day, which isn't starting to cut it. Started out at 135 lbs (yeah, im skinny - probably 0.1% BFP, lol) and have put on 10 lbs already; which surprised me. So now I am at 145 lbs and am looking to educate myself. I don't have a set diet, I just eat a lot (not sure if overeating is bad). My metabolism is very very fast. I also just bought some "Premium Whey Protein" (20g protein per serving), so I will see how that goes. Feel free to private message me with useful tips, and I will be reading posts and starting threads the like. Thanks and hope this will benefit me and you guys!

RE: Introduce Yourself - Sunday, February 06, 2005 6:53 PM ( #138 )
Hi! I'm Jen and I'm a 32 year old mommy and wife who is fighting post-baby/lazy-butt fat. The only kind of exercise I have ever enjoyed and gotten any results from was weight lifting. I am trying to lose 40lbs of excess flab, as well as getting back the body I had prior to my son's birth 2 years ago. I have fought it , and alas, I have lost.

So, I'm here seeking fat-loss advice that is healthy, smart, effective and affordable. I am also looking for training plans I can pass on to one of my hubby's buds who happens to own a gym and has offered to help however he can.

I am looking forward to a new start this year...and I'm committed to success!

God Bless! JenM.

hey hey,
i'm a college frosh who goes to school full time and works about 30 hrs. a week. when i'm not at school, and not working, there's nothing more i like to do than go downstairs and lift weights. i've been lifting for about 8 months off and on, but i'm getting serious now. my primary objective for joining db is to get tips and reviews from people on different supplements and maybe some lifting tips. because of my lack of time and limited budget, i don't go to a gym, i train at home, so i am looking forward to discussing bodybuilding with some other people.
i'm 6'1", about 190 lbs.
right now i'm just trying to gain strength and mass
and i'm looking forward to being a part of this online community
thanks,
James

well well well...lol. I'm 17 and i'm a junior in highschool. I started working out around this time last year mainly doing machines and all that great stuff. Over the summer i was introduced to myoplex which I gained about 10 pounds reaching 145. After summer I began "lifting" and I got into it and i was recently introduced to creatine, and tonight i was introduced to No2. Ive gained alot of weight since last week, 5 pounds! Im looking forward to getting alot of tips from this message board.

Well basically i came to this site cause i was bored and felt like learning more because i heard its a good site. Im 17 years old im 6'7 about 200 lbs and ive been working out for a while. I play basketball and all that good stuff but i just felt like getting on here to learn some new stuff. I know its hard for me to gain a whole lot of muscle at my age and with my height but i do with what ive got and try as much as i can to get bigger. Im great at basketball i just need to get more muscle/weight on me so i can be a more dominant center in college because thats where i want to play hopefully if not a power forward.

Heya, new here..

My name is Ryan..
28 Year old father of 2.. ehh.. 5'9" 190lbs 25%BF Just trying to get in good shape. I quit smoking 5 months ago, and am working on getting the unhealthy parts of my life changed(like work.. haha)
Lemme see...
Bench = 160
Squat = 200

Right now I'm doing the MAX-OT program I found here, which I LOVE by the way.

Goals are to get up to 200 Bench 300 Squat in 11 more weeks, 300/400 by the end of the year(unrealistic.. but gives me something to go for)

I work out after work, usually about 2-3 am (hurray for 24 hour fitness) and am doing a really high protein - low carb/fat diet, about 4000 Calories.. which seems to be working, 2 weeks in and I need a belt for all my pants now, even though I weight 10#s more.

Anyways, just saying hi :) I'm going to post a bunch of recipes in the nutrition area when I get a minute, I've been a chef for 10 years, and don't want to mooch all this great information without offering something.. haha.

Look forward to reading you all later.

ok so here goes. im a 33 year old male from the uk with 6 years of training and not a whole lot of growth! i have good tone and reasonable body fat at 15%, 5 feet 6 and 140 lbs. i can drop weight easily and gain fat easily, but i dont seem to be able to gain the lean mass i want. i think my diet is ok, but i think im making a lot of mistakes in high sets, over training and not enough calories. i get lots of advice from the "gym rats" and work out in a gym where roids are rife, but i want honest gains, not freaky size ..or ****tits and a bad attitude!
i think i need some quality advice on training, diet and rest without the needles r us peddle.
any advice anyone can give would be hugely appreciated.
thanks in advance and i look forward to hearng from anyone that can help. jim

Well im 28yo/ 5'11"/ 210lbs. Played soccer pretty much all my life from when i was 7yo till i was 21 ended up losing my hearing when i was 24 so the past few years I have had to battle with depression and a life altering change but. But ive come to the conclusion that living the life of vegging out doing nothing is only one step closer to death. So ive been workin out for the past couple weeks using free weights multi vitamins whey protien and a decent diet due to readin these boards. My goa is just to look better and feel better bout my self as a whole..

Hey, this site looks like a good place to chat and swap advice. I am just about 23, 6'1 255 and in April entering my first competition, the Saskatchewan Novice Championships in Prince Albert I have my Personal Trainer Specialist and Nutritionist certificates, love bodybuilding just about as much as life and am 100% natural. So I just like to say hi and I am very glad to be here.
