Howdy,
well names Andy, I have worked out for a lil bit but went to school and with no gym possible, and classes and laziness i guess, i fell out of shape and undid all i was able to do before. Im 6 1  about 275. Im, well obese I suppose and really need to lose the weight and gain more muscle. I love the outdoors, mountain biking, skating, swimming, pretty much everything outdoors, and tired of not being able to do it due to low fitness level, and other things which I need to work on. Im not really lookin to use supplements or anything, though its not a banned idea. My overall plan is to weigh about 190 -200 in three years, by my 30th birthday, and build up muscle. I believe its a pretty fair goal. I know I need to come up with some short term goals to reach along the way. Im just not sure what is a reasonable safe goal for short term. I love to cook and am looking for better foods to eat than what I have been. Well thats a brief summary, hope to learn alot and reach my goals, hopefully with yalls help

Hello everyone!

26 year old Marine currently between duty stations. I found this site by following a link in google while searching for supplement reviews.

I am trying to be more fit, lose a little bit of weight and a good chunk of body fat and get myself up to 20 pullups. Short term goal.

Overall my goal is to live healthier, put down the beer and burger king and educate myself about fitness and nutrition, without surrendering my life savings to the GNC cashier.

I have never been a gym animal, so weight-training and supplements are a strange new world for me. I just started taking hydroxycut, leukic, gakic and vitrix, as well as my usual omega-3 pill and multivitamin. If I am about to kill myself someone please send me a PM and let me know. Otherwise I shall peruse the forums and see what I can learn.

Life is like a Rubik's Cube - only a few people ever actually figure it out. The rest of us just peel the stickers off and rearrange them.

Hello Everyone,

My names Justin. I am 22 years old with a lovely fiancee, and a baby girl on the way(the love of my life in a nut shell). I've been wrestling since my freshman year in high school- I wrestled at 215 freshman and sophomore year, then I progressively bulked and bumped to heavyweight(215-275), placing 2nd in states. Once finished with high school athletics it was crucial that I find another way to push myself physically, that is when I picked up my first M&F magazine, then came a membership to the local gym..and to this day I'm still in love with the sport of bodybuilding=)

I'm currently:
6'5
258lbs
9-11% bf

Bench: 315 8reps
Deads(favorite): 455 4reps
Squat: 275 12 reps  (I'm very tall so I stick with higher reps)
Cleans: 225 4 reps

I look forward to soaking up all the knowledge I can from this site..NICE TO MEET EVERYONE!!

Re: RE: Introduce Yourself - Saturday, March 21, 2009 7:55 AM ( #1060 )
Hey everybody, I'm starting to get into bodybuilding and nutrition... My name is Diego, never really went to the gym hard... I used to play soccer frequently, went to college and lost a lot of my good exercise habits. When I have gone to the gym in the past, I usually stuck to leg workouts... 2 reasons for this: 1) I like leg workouts 2) I was self-concious/shy/insecure about my upper body strength... Well, it's time to face my fears... step by step going facing that.

I'm 24 years old, just joined the gym, started reading about nutrition and I weigh 140.6 lbs. I'm looking to gain muscle weight that I can use as well.

My problem in the past has been a wishy-washy state with self improvement... I have read several books but at some point I get lazy or forget the big picture. I'm trying a different approach and taking this in steps. Today should be my first day to the gym I signed up for, and to be honest, i sense a bit of the insecurity about it. I don't really know machines or anything about body building, so i'm hoping this forum can help me as a support system, and I can give value back once I reach my bodyweight goals.

Looking forward to meeting everybody here. And hello to the other new members!

Re: RE: Introduce Yourself - Sunday, March 22, 2009 8:08 PM ( #1061 )
I'm MJ, 26, from the midwest, currently residing in rural Japan.  I've always been a pretty skinny guy (around mid 140s), never too concerned with diet or exercise.  Last year, at just over 160, I realized I was becoming a skinny fat guy.  Since then I've improved my diet, started exercising 4-6 times a week, reduced alcohol to a minimum, and most recently quit smoking (7 weeks and counting).

By now my waistline is back to normal, muscle mass is up a bit, and my weight is around 150.  I could have had much better results if I'd known what I was doing.  That's why I've joined DBB.  To gain knowledge and make some real progress.

My current goal: 170lbs at 8-10% bodyfat.  Seems modest, but we'll see!

Re: RE: Introduce Yourself - Thursday, March 26, 2009 8:08 AM ( #1062 )
Hi, I'm new to this group, but not new to BB. I've taken a 10 year break due to non BB injuries derailing me. I'm 53, 6' tall and have gone from 245 to 230 lbs this year so far. I'm currently on a combination bulk and cut. I need the bulk to gain size and will probably adjust it to more of a cut in another month. I'd like to wind up around 125-220 lbs by the summer.

I w/o 4 x week, doing full body with cardio and getting positive results in just 11 weeks. I hope to be able to learn as well as share my experiences to help others.

Re:Introduce Yourself - Tuesday, April 14, 2009 2:12 PM ( #1068 )
Hi my name is Ivan I am 24 and I just got into lifting. Last time I lifted was during High School football Junior Year where I killed my ankle during a game and never went back to lifting. In the past 6 years I've had memberships and also purchased those over priced home rigs and usually go at it for a week then give up. I guess I never had any real motivation or just really didnt care. I kept smoking and drinking so whenever I would hit the gym I was always out of breath or too hung over to go. :-/

This time I finally quit smoking and started eating really healthy. I plan on sticking with it this time for real! I feel that the support from the forum should help allot so I'm here :-) the simple fact that I know I can find answers to questions here or ask my own questions makes this now a part of my life.

Currently
252 LBS
24% body fat (according to my phone)

Goal
200 LBS
14% body fat

I walk a mile and half to two miles daily. (still cant jog very far)
I am currently trying to develop a new routine for myself from the information I am gathering on the forum.

Re:Introduce Yourself - Thursday, April 23, 2009 10:12 AM ( #1070 )
Wow, what a great site!   I’ve spent the past week trying to familiarize myself with all the forums, reading all the topics and the fantastic replies & advice.    Wish this site would have existed 20+ years ago, god knows what type of gains I would have seen.    A little about myself, 43 year old from Denver.    Starting working out in my family basement with 110 lbs sears concrete weight set some 30 years ago.   Joined a real gym the first day I got my drivers license.    I was pretty regular at the gym (4-5 times a week) through my 20’s and into my mid 30’s.    Then took a job where I traveled 75% of the time, so between the donut breakfasts, pizza lunches, etc…..my gut started taking over my body.    I’m 5-8 and weigh 205, have 46” chest, 16.5” bi’s but a whopping 38” waist.

Recently started lifting again on my lunch hour with a 27 year old 210 lb beast that really pushes me.    So I feel the old desire coming back and that is awesome.   Had a mild set back with my second hernia about a month ago but was back to hitting the weights and probably about 85% back to normal.

I’ll be posting a thread re business professionals who w/o and are crunched for time.   Look forward to getting some feedback from all the members.

Here is some of my current lifts haven’t maxed out due to recent surgery but you can get the drift:

Squat    275x6
Dead     315x3
Bench   275x3
Height 5' 8" Weight  200 lbs Body Fat 16%
Bench 315-Squat 365-Dead 405
Chest-46"/Bicep-16.5"/Waist-37"...UGGH
Thigh-24.5"/Calves 16"

Re:Introduce Yourself - Tuesday, April 28, 2009 10:39 AM ( #1071 )
Hello all, I have been lurking around this site for a while now and I thought it would be a good idea to register.

About me:

I am 25 and have been lifting for 14 months.  I started out around 175, and in the first 3 months I went all the way down to 152 at my lowest.  Then I spent a few months hovering around 152-155 with muscle growth at all when I realized I was not eating nearly enough each day.  So I actually started eating like its my job and right now I've gotten all the way back to 172, but as you can guess I look a lot better than when I was at 175.

In terms of some weights:

When I started I could barely deadlift 80 pounds 3x10
I was squatting somewhere around that and benching around 70.  All of this I'm sure was done with poor form.

My last workout I squatted 5x5 @ 200 no problem (I feel like I could take another 10-20) Deadlift Shrug (my current routine has me doing deadlift+shrug instead of just normal deadies) 5x5@195, I haven't straight benched for a while but my Incline DB press is at 5x5@50 each hand.

The only supplementing I do is Whey Powder, I used to use Designer Whey but now (because my wife likes the taste better) I switched to Gold Standard.

Originally my workout bible was Frank Sepe's "The Truth" which now that I go back and read it really kind of sucks.  I have moved onto Lou Schuler's "New Rules of Lifting" I am much happier and have been putting on more weight.  I actually found myself limited by the first book's ideology as I would get to the gym and do a bunch of wimpy back/leg routines never really squatting all that much such that my bench press stalled out because my back wasn't strong enough to support my chest.

Anyway, I'm sure thats much more than any of you wanted to read (unless you're really bored at work) so thanks everyone who posts here.

Hi everyone.  I'm here primarily to just find some new workouts and vary up my routines.  Some critiquing wouldn't be too bad either.

Currently i am 6' and vary between 165-170 lbs.
My body fat is 8-9%

I look forward to learning some new routines and how to get my maxes up.

i'm from portugal and i'm 21 years old. started gym in mid february, i'm about 165 pounds, 5 ft and 9 inches tall (i'm like 3 or 4 kilos overweighted). my goal is to gain mass and define my muscles (i dont know if thats what u say in english. in portugal, translated word-by-word, is to "dry the muscles"). i workout practily every day in the morning and have practice soccer 2 times a week.

I don't know why I didnt do this a few weeks ago, but I guess I will do it now. I am Chris Jones, 13 years old, 5'3 104lbs. I'm pretty knowledgeable on weightlifting for the most part. I workout 3 times a week, followed by slurping down some whey protein. I am a Weider (C) guy, 2 benches a lat machine and a xp home gym. I'm kind of weak for my age, but I max out at 81 lbs on the bench. You can follow my journal, send some messages, or add me to your contact list if you want to.

same with 13yearoldweightlifter, i dont know why i didnt take the time to do this when i started out a week ago. Better late than never i guess, well im 16 years old, i live in canada eh, im 6 "5" 225 lbs and like almost every other person who joined this forum, i love to workout. The feeling is just great and u cant substitute it for anything in the world. I play hockey and probably have a injury that takes me off the ice and gym for about a month a year, yes i have very crappy luck.  A little about my gym stats...
max bench: 295 lbs (few months ago)
incline bench: 205 lbs
squat: 270 lbs (i find this very hard to do often, maybe my tallness lol. but i also have scoliosis, that may not be spelt right, its a spinal back problem and thats what got me workin out in the first place, because of this back problem that flares up from time to time i do not do dead lifts).
and something kind of new!!!!
max curl dumbell: 70 lbs (left hand) 65 lbs (right hand)
max curl EZ bar standing up and good form: 115x6

all this curling stuff i did when i was 15 and was pretty proud of it hence my name curlz, cheesy but cool i guess

now, why i joined this site: Mainly i was looking for a forum that had alot to offer about supplements and what to use and so on.. searching google this site came up more often than not so i chose this one. btw its a great site!

Not to be to nieve or self indulging.. if i was to look at those numbers that someone else put up, i would think they looked ripped and huge. Not the case with myself, i have a good body, nothing special. But when i started weightlifting i thought size was strength and strength was size. Not the case really as i have learned from searching the many topics on this site already, so i hope to continue to keep the strength up and really pack on some size espcially my chest.

i know that was way too long but yeah thanks. like i said this is a great site, really like it!
