RE: Introduce Yourself - Friday, May 09, 2008 5:13 AM ( #961 )
Whats going on DBB!!!!

I was hitting the gym 5 days a week for about 2-3 months, lost about 20lbs, well then the holidays game and i lost it. I stopped going to the gym and i gained the weight that i have previously lost. Well i got fed up and i am so motivated to do this and do it right. I started hitting the gym again this week and did a total 360 with my diet.

Right now im just getting use to working out my muscles again, feeling pretty sore. lol.

I dont take much other then my whey and some vitamins.. Ive thought about taking some sups but just not really sure about it.

Anyway, the forum seems like it rocks so i hope i enjoy my stay!

I'm Tim and working to drop about 50 pounds and gain muscle mass.  This is a great site, and more informative than most books in the bookstores.

I'm a 44 year old Retiree from 23 years U.S Army, looking for tips and discussions on how to get back in shape since I retired. I currently workout 5 days a week doing cardio in the morning and weights at lunch. I haven'nt lost much of my retirement weight but I can say I have noticed cloths fitting lose. Any advice from anyone in the older age group would be a help. The gym I work out at is on the military base and it is just awesome can't find a better gym I feel.

Hey everyone,

I am 30 years old and have been working out since HS.  I Can remember being 135 when I graduated!!

Anyway, when I was younger all I cared about was size.  Now at 30 all I care about is being healthy and fit!  I am currently 6" 200lbs and dont really want to get much heavier.  I am a Police Officer and just want to keep the "unwanted" donut weight off for my career.  I have found this site to be very helpful already for my needs.  Thanks to everyone in advance!

Well I am here to stay, love the site!

Joined here a long time ago but this is my first post here. My name is John, 47 years old, 6 feet tall and 290 pounds at 29% bodyfat. I have been as heavy as 440 pounds not to long ago, have been as low at 270 but have put on some more weight in the last few months as I have found my motivation and desire lacking. I love the working out part of the equation, it is the diet that goofs me up. I know what to eat and what not to eat, I just seem to always want the "not good for me" food. I am trying to change that. I have tried Atkins, Weight Watchers, South Beach, keto, carb cycling etc. I have decided that I need to follow a simple diet instead of a plan, lots of lean proteins, good carbs, fruits and veggies, good fats and lots of water. Portion control is a must.

I am going to do HST training as it makes real sense to me and add cardio on my off days to help with fat loss as well.

I will do my best to be a supportive member of this forum, I have belonged to a few and I get tired of the flaming and immaturity, I don't see that here.

Well, that is my story and I am sticking to it. I will most likely start a training log here once I get my weights established.

Thanks for your time.

A question about PMing???

I tried to send a PM to a member, when I click on the PM link at the bottom of their post it takes me to the top of the thread I am in. Am I doing something wrong or do I not have permission to PM yet? I tried to search but found nothing on this.

Thanks!

Name's torque.  I'm currently 19 years of age.  I'm around 5'7" and I weigh about 180 pounds.   I came here to teach what I know and learn what I don't know.  Right now my bodybuilding plan is a mess, and I'm going to rely on you on the board to help me get that straightened out.  I'll appreciate any helps to my questions.

My real name is Mike Remington.  I'm currently living in North Carolina, but will be moving to Virginia next fall when I start college.  I have no idea what career major I will be majoring in this fall, but I thought about "Mechanical Engineering"... if anyone has any info. on that please PM me.  I would much appreicate it!

I have not lifted weights nor done any type of cardio in the past 9-10 months due to laziness.  Yes, no exuses, just plain laziness that now has me looking near pregnant.  Below where my last maxes from maybe a year ago?

Barbell Bench Press - 245... Barbell Squat - 315... Weight - About 175 (nothing has changed in my weight)... Barbell Military Press - 155

I never done any deadlifts, I was too much of a pussy but that WILL change this cycle.

RE: Introduce Yourself - Saturday, May 31, 2008 7:41 PM ( #978 )
Hi everyone,

Everyone calls me Big "E". Not because I'm built like a gorilla.... because I am a little on the chubby side at 315 lbs. Height 6'2". I am currently changing the implication of my nickname. I'm one of those people that find it difficult to lose weight, but can gain muscle fast. It's a blessing and a curse.

I got out of the military 6 months ago and I didn't do any excercise until recently. To make matters worse, I had abdominal surgery a year and a half before I got out, so my excercise was hindered since then.

Add to the mix that army physical training is focused on cardio and flexibility with relitively no strength training. While I was in the military I gained bad fat weight, lost muscle mass, and had injuries left and right.  Nutritionally I could have done a lot better. I guess at that point I gave up. Because the cardio they would have us do (run 5-10 miles in an hour to an hour and a half) would sabotage what little strength training I did do. I didn't have enought muscle building to help eat the fat.     My body was fighting against me from the start. I claim that the army PT program is flawed from my own experience.

I started the MAX-OT program before I read Marc's No Bull e-book (Love your book Marc!) and I absolutely love the results!!!  I'm only five weeks into it and I have lost seven pounds of body fat and gained four pounds of muscle for a net loss of three pounds. I know it's slow... but I feel healthy!!!

Marc, if you read this, thanks for clearing up most of the bull**** and helping natural body builders have hope again! The media, magazines, and ads are doing a great job of keeping this country unfit with all their quick fix promises, with the hope that they can keep the same customers! $33 billion right?

Hello to everybody . My name is Chris and I am new to this site-- obviously, lol. I have played soccer all of my life and just recently started taking weightlifting more seriously. My goals are to gain strength as well as a little bit of size. I am 6'1" and 165 lbs currently and my goal is to get to a solid 190.

Hi,
My name is Michael. I'm 23 years old and fairly new to working out. I've been working out for the past year or two, but the results I'm getting are not to my expectations, and I suspect it is because of my 'bodybuilding education.' I have read certain things here and there, but it is hard to decipher truth from myth. I'm 6'0, 205lbs. On a scale I bought from weight watchers, I believe my body fat was around 25-27%, hydration was 51%, and muscle always lingers around 40-42%. The look I am going for is probably very heavy on dieting and cardio. Even though I know this is a huge part, I am still curious as to what I should be doing in regards of frequency of weight workouts. The look I would like to achieve is:
I don't know if this is too much to ask for, but I certainly know I will have the discipline and will to get to this look. I will be updating my profile and posting pics so that maybe some of the more experienced people on the site can give me pointers wherever they see fit. Thanks for reading and I look forward to getting some constructive criticsm from all of you!

Hi everyone.  My name is Nadine, I'm from Canada.  I started exercising about 2 and a half years ago, very lightly and still today I'm not a very heavy fitness person like I want to be.

Currently I Cycle for an hour or the elliptical at home for 45 minutes for my cardio workouts which I only do about 3 days per week.  I lift light weight in the arm curl fashion while standing up.  Also do behind the head and upwards with the weights, usually just till i'm tired but do try for 3 to 4 sets.

My goals are just to increase this slightly and probably add leg squats and perhaps a leg extension in the routine somehow.  Probably have to sit down for a few minutes to figure out a decent routine.
Nadine,

Hello everyone! My name is Sam. I am a health and fitness professional who stumbled upon this site. I used to and still do a lot of cross fitness training. Then about a year ago I decieded to incorporate it with some bodybuilding and weight training. I have some good working knowledge of weight training but don't know it all. I was hoping to learn from the people in this forum who are passionate about bodybuilding and are willing to  share their experiences about workout routines, nutritional supplements, recovery times after workouts, etc. I can sense that their are dedicated members here in this forum that are good contributors and are willng to share their knowledge and expertise. I hope to do the same and to engage in good conversation with you all so we can learn from each other.

Hi everyone my name is Mike. I am 24 and want to start working out again. I use to wrestle and worked out in highschool but that was a long time ago. Since then went to college and now I work outside so I do get some work out from that but not the same thing as working out. I am here to learn more about bodybuilding as I get back into it. I am 5ft4in and weigh about 158lbs. I have no max outs to give right now. A couple months ago down in a basement I did bench press 190lb but I was not working out. I have not taken any vitamins or supplements either but might start some protein powder stuff. Hope I can find some good advice on here.

Goals: Pack on some more muscle on my upper arms, forearms are pretty good to go. But also work on my total body.

Hi, Fingerello here. I'm new to this site and I'm just getting back into working out. I have snapped both biceps a couple years ago (tow unrelated accidents 6 months apart) and I'm trying to find the best way to get back in shape. I suppose I was a bit inspired by the contestants on American Gladiator. What can I say.

I am 28 years old.  I have started kind of late in the game into fitness.  I quit smoking two years ago and have taken a love to weight training since.  I am now starting to lose the gut and man boobs that came with not being able to do cardio. I am not naturally strong so my bench sucks...but I have started to take some supplements and clean my diet up.  I do No-xplode pre workout and two to three two scoop protein shakes a day.  I just got Cell-mass in the mail and am hoping it will help with strength gains.  Look forward to reading tips and workout / diet advice
