Improving quarter mile time. - Saturday, September 16, 2006 7:10 AM
So i ran the quarter mile the other day in school, i got first place out of the whole 9th grade with 1:12. I'm not sure if thats bad or good though, considering the health of some students..for lack of better words. I've decided i want to run track, so how can i improve the quarter mile time above all else?

I ran track last year, ran the 1/2 mile, mile, and 2 mile . Our team got 3rd at state and I believe they like to train for the 400 by running 800's. So if you want to train for the 800, practice miles, etc. That will leave you good energy for a strong kick in the last stretch.

You want to run anything else besides that? What are some of your times?

My personal bests:   800m (1/2 mile) - 2:12
                            1600m (mile) - 5:13
3200m (2 mile) - 11:20 or somethin like that...not sure on this one, forgot it lol

nah man, I run about  a 49-48 right now but im not in good shape.
But, you want to do 300's and maybe 500's. Work on speed too!!! Speed kills but you
have to get use to lactic acid at that distance. The 300's should get u prepared for that. Run remember this run the 1st 50 hard then float. Stride the back stretch.
At about 250 get ready to pick up speed using your arms more now. Last stretch pray!
