Im Allergic to Exercise! - Wednesday, August 26, 2009 7:24 PM ( #1 )
By far the worst thing to ever happen to me. Ive been breaking out in rashes ever since 2002, six years ago, on and off and almost always after sweating/physical activity. Finally went to a good dermatlogist and got a biopsy after SIX YEARS of being told it was eczema, bacterial infection, yeast, blah blah blah. Cholinergic Urtacaria is its real name, look it up. Its an allergy to the rise of internal body heat in which the body responds by breaking out in hives! It usually develops from ages 16-22 and I got it at 16. (Now 22). I always get so hot and itchy after sweating/exercise and pink itchy hives cover my whole trunk and take like two whole weeks to go away. I was doing so awesome on the CKD too, but my body is scarred and ruined by this crap and I am losing definition because I have to stay home and not sweat basically. This has been off an on, mostly off, but in the past 3 months, mostly on.

Why did I post this? To let you all know how lucky you are that you do not have cholinergic urtacaria. Oh yea, theres no cure and treatment is difficult and doesnt work for most. Six years, and now Im finally being told its getting too bad that I must give up my life as an athlete. F8CK, im so pissed off I just wanna break something.

Have you ever run in place or done jumping jacks in the shower? Any pools near by that you can do laps in. Don't take it lying down, find ways around it!

dtes,
Man, I almost don't know what to say.  I hope you can find a way to deal with it and can be as happy as possible.  I hope your doctor(s) find a way to help you and make you healthy.  You might not want to hear this right now, but there are millions of ways to be a happy person.  I know you hurt because you can't do what you desire right now.  But try to think of other things.  If it helps, know that you have made others (me at least) step back and realize the things I take for granted.  So thank you for that.  Best wishes and stay in touch!  :)
