Hey everyone, I am 18 and about to go to college and start the summer vacation. I threw out my arm pitching when I was 12 and have had 2 orthoscopic cleanings, and two pilidonial cyst operations as the first one got f****d up. I am still recovering from the second cyst surgery. I started going to a real gym instead of my bench and two dumbells around 3 weeks ago. I have worked on abs and chest with pushups(which still hurt) and the cycle once a day for 20 minutes. I do the bike because I have bad running feet(short aquelies tendons). I was wondering since i know there is still some crap in my elbow what can i do to work around the joint to compensate? This huge guy told me to look up pre-exhaust i think it was. Anything would help, thanks.

Fasha-noticed nobody has replied and that may be due to all the complications you have. You might want to ask the same questions to your doctor or a trained rehap therapist. Realize that doesn't help you right off but not sure anyone wants to give you bad advice. Good luck on your recovery.

I hear you. I was just wondering....forget all the complications, what are some good arm exercises besides curls and such that I could build?

Seriously Fasha, anybody willing to give you that advice over the internet, is someone you should NOT listen to. You can not "take back", the medical information you provided, we read it, NO ONE, and I mean NO one, here is qualified to advise you on your training. NO ONE (even the few members we have/had who are doctors, personal trainers, or Physio's), would give you that kind of advice, with out examining you in person... Don't listen to some "huge Guy" in the gym.... Seriously, get good physical therapy, then after you are cleared you can train.

I have been cleared though which is the sad thing. I guess I will have to go back to therapy. Thanks everyone.

You've been cleared for exercise which is a plus, now the next ideal step would be to be trained by an instructor/PT at the gym and alternatively some guidelines from a physio to tell you what'd be best to stretch (they can give notes for the trainers to help them design a program for you). Just basing off what you've told us though, I couldn't say a great deal without actually examining you and your movements in person. In any case, take it easy, use exercise as a rehabilitation tool, don't listen to some huge guy, he sounds like a wank, just 'cause he's big does not mean he's qualified to know what's best for your body post-surgery!
