this is not true, working out does not stunt your grouth. your body is very efficient in deciding where nutrients are transported. your body supplies what if feels is the most important items fist, such as vital organs and physical development. hight comes from bone grouth as you all ready know, but bone development and muscle development requires totally different vitamins and minerals. yes some of them are the same but not everything supports muscle grouth. to keep this short you will be fine. keep your self on a healthy diet and you will be ok.

Its a myth weight lifting does not have any effect on your growth or any other kind of growth. There is no scientific evidence to support this idea. So the answer is NO it does not effect growth in teenagers. Thanks.

The way I understand it, weight lifting can stunt growth because of improper technique damaging growth plates.

True... and add in lifting with heavy weight (heavy!!) when you are younger may have an impact on growth plates as well. Once you are done growing.. go for it! And when I say heavy.. I don't mean a weight you can do for 12 reps.

ORIGINAL: RUS thats what i thought 2, becouse i see all those big guys in our school and there like 5'5. at most 5'11 Thats probably because of wrestling. In general the people that go to the gym most often and build the most muscle there are wrestlers. Being shorter in wrestling is a grerat advantage. So all the good wrestlers are the ones that go to the gym. The result is a lot of short weight lifters. If you go to a real gym you probably won't see as many short people.

nah man, school gyms are controlled by Football Coaches and the room is packed with Football players, hardly ever any wrestlers. FB coach gives you a hard time if you dont show up in the Weight room.

In my school if you are on the wrestling, and/or football team you will weight train. Our school gym is open after school and you will usually find almost every variation of sportsmen in there, although I have never seen someone on the golf or chess team in there... hmmm (ponders an easily answered question) I agree though school gyms are controlled by the coaches. Waite so let me get the topic straight though, if you lift improperly it can stunt your growth. If you lift a great amount of weight even with proper form it can stunt your growth?
