Okay I wanna start taking creatine as well as a few other supplements to gain he most from my serious training. I'm kinda nervous about taking it because of 3 reasons:
1) creatine causes some water retention in muscles, and I don't want water on my heart because it is a muscle. So is this a possibility?
2) if taken in larger than reccomended amounts it can cause kidney failure, but taking it in supplement form is already more than a normal daily amount, right?
3) I've read that the gains of creatine is mass due to water retention, I know it also retards the build up of lactic acid and provides atp for the work out, but aside from water retention, does it add to the gaining of muscle?

If anyone has any links of passages with references by an MD I'd appreciate it. Also I'm sorry cause I know this post has to be somewhere on this site, I just couldn't find it. Thanks for taking time to read this

good question i would like to no the awnser aswell.Im new at this sorta thing and dont no much about it.I got a tub of creatine power the other day as well as the normal proteen power i take. i dont no much about creatine but the guy at the store said it helps to open ur vaines more to allow more flow of blood cells and nutreants and other stuff to get to ur mussels (sry if i spelled that wrong)....anyways he said that if you take the recomended amounts (2 scoops) within an houre befor or afater a work out its best.

I asked if there was any helth risk he said no just take the proper amount and take proteen power afater because you need the proteen to make up for the proteen and energy you burn well working out....anyways so sounded like it was somthing worth trying and your body produces creatine naturely so by takeing a powder fourm or pill...your adding more witch is fine long as you fallow instructions.i think it helps to rebuild mussel and build stregnth faster.

Dont take everything im saying as fack i could be wrong like i said i dont no much about it...anyways so i tryed some of the creatine powder i got fir the first time today afater a work out.....i got a nice boost of energy like 10 mins afater....it probley takes some time to see any effect tho....the dude at the store said any side effects if you get any would be bloted stumic due to the amount of water you drink or maybe few small cramps nothing bad tho long as you drink alot! of water to flush it all you should be fine.....i dont no if this helps or not sry its so long and for all the bad spelling lol im new at this as well.....if ya got any advise let me no

Save your money! That would be my advice. Focus on big, hard training and big, clean eating. Thats it, thats the big secret.

Wow, you guys need Google.
Water rentention is IN the muscle. Your muscles contain water now, but not as much as youy would with creatine. The water give your muscles a "bounce" cushion(simple terms) and gives you the ability to perform more, creating more muscle tears, therefore more growth/strength.
Creatine can NOT cause kidney failure, where the hell did u hear that?
IF you can somehow consume 1XXXXXXX amont of G's of creatine, and actually hold it down, it might cause some damage.
Thats why u only take the reccomended dose on the container.
It can cause discomfort/ bloating with higher doses.
IF you have weak kidneys, consult a doctor, yes.
You should cycle creatine.
Your muscles will appear slightly bigger, just more fuller from the water weight. You will gain some weight quickly as well.

Also, supplements are just aiding the body in its natural process.
