A bit of background.

Firstly, I just got weights a couple of months ago and proceeded to waste my time doing mostly Isolations by the diagrams on wall charts supplied.  Anyhow then a couple of weeks ago I decided to take things a bit more seriously, so have been on these forums and a couple of others looking at routines and dietry requirements etc.

As I have a bench and weights only, I thought the best routine for me would be the Mark Rippetoe one suggested by several senior members http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/3_DAY_FULL_BODY/m_303404/tm.htm
(Which I thoroughly enjoy and for the first time ever feel like I have done a proper work out rather than tire out my arms and shoulders)

The problem I have with this is with the squatting - not the actual exercise as I like them, but the fact I can't afford a proper rack for a while which obviously puts a limit on what I can safely lift and put down - currently I only feel comfortable squatting with 35kg which isn't alot but we all have to start somewhere. It is frustrating as I know I could do alot more with the right equipment!

I wont be able to afford a rack for about 2 months, so what I want to know is would people recommend I do alternatives until I can afford one, extra deadlifts for instance?  Or should I just keep going at 35kg and either keep the weight static or increase the rate alot more slowly until I can?

Although I'm not a big fan of Hack Squats,"no rack required" it would be an alternative until you purchase a rack.. If you're not familiar with the exercise, here's a link

I strongly suggest you to get a rack. Squats are the main lift in this program and they promote most of the progress.

There is no replacement for the back squat, which produces as much stress, skeletal load and hormonal responses.

The closest replacement I can think about is the front squat (if you know how to clean the weight), but unfortunately, the best solution would be to get a rack.
