IBB's New journal of 2009

Back :) Seems like everytime I want to bulk I make a journal lol... Well this time id like to get fairly strong again.. I mean as strong as I use to be but maybe a tad stronger? Maybe not? LoL... Anyway.. I don't want to gain too much weight. I am 192lbs @ 6% BF.. I am looking to be 202lbs @ 7 - 8 % BF.. That should be substantial.. But this time I am focused more on my back and my upper shelf of my chest. I need those parts to catch up. also my branche of my arm needs to catch up. Last bulk I successfully got those quads I always wanted, also my chest is as full as I want it. I managed to bulk the abs also. My traps have always been cool my biceps not so good and my triceps really blew out last time. If I had that wide back it would really fill in the missing pieces. So here we go!!! :) Going to add more lat pulls weighted work skip the middle back **** cause my middle back is cool . I need the wings!! Adding in some cable pull downs also, like arnold use to do. Maybe even after this bulk I may cut all the way back down to 190 again? or not... Who knows. Time to figure it out as I bulk. I am an exotic dancer now, became official about 3 weeks ago.. The slow season is almost over the busy season is coming. I am a pretty damn good dancer also, not to mention I got some acrobatics down as well. Now when the money rolls in and after I get a week job! since I got laid off 3 months ago.. I should get everything back that I lose in life and go to school!! :\ Yup I have had a pretty rough 3 months :\ Actually I am struggling to survive lol.. But the turn around just started.

5 lbs of muscle 5 lbs of fat, shouldn't be a problem at all. I agree with you though you have some nice middle back thickness, the weighted pull ups and such should help, I would still do some rowing on occasion, just make sure to keep your elbows tucked in and pull to the gut, and that will work the lats good.

I know you said that you don't do deadlifts, but seriously there isn't one single better lift for your entire back (ESPECIALLY the "wings" you are looking for) then the deadlift. My back is probably my most impressive aspect of my body. I never really post any lat spread pics or back picks, so it's not apparent on here, but when I have my shirt off people always say "holy s***, your back is f***ing MASSIVE"......and the deadlift is, by far, my best lift of them all. I'd definately recommend some HEAVY deadlifting for the back man! Good luck on the bulk....I'm not far behind you. I'll be bulking back up in a few weeks.

I'd definately recommend some HEAVY deadlifting for the back man! Interesting assessment you make there Bri. I stopped doing them a few months back because my gym said I slammed the weight down too hard but it's not easy to control when you're doing 315 for 8-12 reps you know? Any whom I just started paying more attention to squats. Might start doing them again in my garage though...

Well, I'm always gonna recommend heavy lifting over anything else. Whether you're working in the 8 - 12 range or the 1 - 3 range, just make sure that s*** it f***ing HEAVY!!!! I'm lucky that my gym doesn't b**** at me for slamming the weights down when deadlifting. I try to lower it and a controlled pace, but I agree it's definately hard not to slam the weights down sometimes.

Guys, I'm worried about the same thing atm! The fitness director at my Y is really nice though. I might just have a talk with her about what I'm doing and that it might be a little noisy. She likes me and has commented on my progress, and knows I'm a nice guy and not a d1ck. Probably the other lifters and machine/cardio people who will complain their serenity has been disturbed.

JMBS, I'd just keep on deadlifting if I were you, and if they said anything I'd just find a new gym.

brihead301 JMBS, I'd just keep on deadlifting if I were you, and if they said anything I'd just find a new gym. I can just hear it: "Don't you think the weight's too heavy, man?" Of course I did injure my back doing deads a week ago. But I can just tell deads are awesome for the the core and back. I'm starting to get traps! I'd rather not switch gyms, as lame as the Y's free weight room is. There are other things I like about the place. I sort of wish I could have a home gym but there's no room, believe me! I feel I might be intimidated at a Gold's type of place.

Some big guys with big egos might think theyre tha **** cause theyre bigger than everyone there but fxck them.

hmmm.. I never feel intimidated at gyms.. I do like watching other people lift though.. Anyway So I started in on the diet.. Pasta, oatmeal, white rice, milk, cheese, "junk food" LoL"what!?" i KNOW I KNOW... LoL wheat bread peanut butter jelly blah blah blah.. I ain't going to lie I just eat everything! I am going to clean it up a tad more though. Today was actually my off day and yesterday was my chest day. BTW I am pretty week now I can barely rep 225 on the flat 10 times and I can barely rep 205 on the incline 10 times. Horrible seriously.. It's okay though Ill get my strength very fast. Anyway regardless.. Tomorrow is leg day then ill hit shoulders then arms then start again with back. Tomorrow I think I will shoot for 600 - 800 on the leg press and 8 - 10 reps on everything. Squats I will try to box squat 295 for 10 because I am pretty sure I can no longer do 315 for 10. That's pretty much goal.. My weight is 194.. This is week 1.

IBB, what does a typical day's worth of food look for you when bulking? I'm getting too damn skinny, so I need to start gaining again. I want to do it a bit cleaner this time.

IBB, Is the high/low GI stuff overblown? I love white rice and regular potatoes. Whole grain rice fills me too quickly. I like sweet potatoes but not as much as regular potatoes. Whole wheat pasta is tolerable though. And, by way of full disclosure, I do slather butter on everything. I know that's not necessarily good, but is it THAT bad? Thx! Good workin' out! :)

Guess it depends on who you are and how your body takes to it. I honestly don't eat as clean as everyone else. I just try to eat 90% home cooked meals and I stay lean.. As long as I am carb loading while bulking it's all good! Anyway my weight is almost back up to 200lbs. My back is looking pretty dope compared to before, My chest is at a halt but its all good I got years to expand on that. I am still very lean and even more vascular. I did go back to a 50 / 40 / 30 / 20/ 10 Drop set routine 1nce per week every week with a different body part. The majority of my back movements are pull downs just different variations and machines. I would like to gain 5 lbs more solid.. 205 and leaner then ever before.. I noticed it's pretty damn easy to stay lean when your dancing all the time though BLAH!! I danced for 4 hours 2 days ago and hit the gym an hour before that.. so I was at the gym for 5 hours!! DAMMNNIITT!!
