hahahahah, I went and got a chili there today too for refeed, and yesterday with a potato, I was noticing the amonia sweat smell, catabolism and feeling so weak and tierd so I did the refeeds, I am so lean right now even so one scale says I am 114, the other says I am 116 and 22% bf...........hahahahah, I know I am not 22% at this point.  I don't normally eat meat and usually go for veg chili but its pre contest 2 weeks out so I do eat a bit of meat if need be simple because its not about taste or preference, its about kicking some ass at my contest!!!  I just thought it was funny to see 'wendys' here in the post.  I know wendys, I used to work there as a kid, they grind their meat each night for the next day, it really is lean and fresh and real meat, no mixers.

Many people may disagree.  You can have one of their salads (lettuce with sugary additions) or a burger (ground beef with fat in it).  Which is better?  At least the burger gives you needed protein and stuff.  The salad contains nothing good for you.

It really depends on what kind of diet you're trying to stick to.

There are healthy options.  A side salad with caesar dressing is just vegetables and healthy fat.  But, something like the Mandarin Chicken Salad is way worse than a burger.

Also, I know LOTS of bodybuilders who eat the chili at Wendy's because it has lots of protein.  Do you know what's in it?  They take the extra hamburger patties and chop them up.  They're not THAT bad.

EXactly, i was going to post that until I saw your post, they spray sugar water on it to keep it crispy..............the burger may actually be healthier.

Since you're an ex-wendy's girl I have to ask.... Is it really fresh, and never frozen?

Come on don't make him feel bad, getting a salad instead of a burger is a confidence booster and it will help him motivate himself to make better choices any time he goes out with his friends.  Great Job kingyoto!!

Yup, it goes intot he walk in fridge and they disappear by the next night, and the chili is made with the patties which fall apart and are not good enough as a burger patty so it maybe a bit fatty but its all fresh and high in protein, so she is right on that call too.

Italianangel, was it true that some lady found a rat's head in her chili and sued Wendy's for like 1 million dollars?  Sorry, I just had to ask.

nope it was the tip of a finger............and it was as set up, it was someone she knew who cut their finger and this tried to scam by putting in the chili then saying it was found there but they were caught on fraud.

I don't think anyone is trying to or wants to make him feel bad... But the points J brought up are very valid.  Even the stuff at FF that is suppose to be healthy can actually be worse than their regualar crap.  If I have FF, Wendy's is usally one of the 1st places I chose.. Zaxby's house salad with Grilled chicken is incredible...

Anyway, way to go Kingyoto.. it must have been hard watching your friends eat a burger while you're eating salad.. It does get easier as you adjust to eating healthy.. hang in there..

I currently work at Wendy's and have been there for 5 years.  I'm also pretty knowledgable about the place!  There are just some things you wouldn't think about.  One that surprised me was the oranges.  They seem healthy, they're fruit, but they're in a sugar syrup.

You just have to be careful.

hey girl, it is so nice to see you around!!!
I was hoping you would stick around the forum, I, and others, like having you around!

Yes!  kick ass girl, I am so proud of you!  I gained my heaviest while working at Wendys around age 16 or so.  I did not eat the meat but at the chicken clubs which they had BACK THEN (old lady alerty) and the cheeeeeeese sauce...............on the baked potato, they used to do them with brocolli then.  I would get a potato in its tub then an extra tub filled with the cheese sauce.................once in awhile I go and get fries there and dip them in the cheese sauce.
When i worked there, I used to eat teh keisers just like that, as I worked and ..........I would go into the cooler and have tacos with sour cream when they used to have a salad bar.........................................I can be so bad with foods, even now adays.........without competition goals I would get fat.

I'm definitely not trying to make anyone feel bad.  It's a GREAT thing that he resisted temptation!  I just don't want him thinking he's eating something extremely healthy, not realizing that there may be hidden sugar.  This place is all about helping eachother out.  Not everyone has inside information.

I agree entirely!  I had a friend who worked at mc d's, and she says the fries are basically wheat flour shaped fries, there is less than a small percent of actualy potato product in them and they fry them in beef flavoring...........which I found out when I was really strict veg.  Now adays I am looser in my veghood - a bit of a food whore I suppose.....hahahahahahah - I get those fries occasionally to - off season of course and rarely pre season.
I mean we are human and don't always do what is best for us, we are not perfect but you do the best you can as much as you can and when its time to buckle down you do so.  I think its cool the poster is asking questions and I am sure he will take all the info in stride here and learn from it, not feel bad about what he ate...............that would be silly.
Now pass me a starbucks volcano cakes, shiiiiet we need to start a thread on that alone.........can you tell my dieting has taken over my mind???  I even notice and respond to food threads and have the others in my inbox wiating to tend to..................have you seen or tried the volcano cake?  My gosh its sin in a cup.
Of course save it for a cheat, its this fudge cupcake with warm caramel spilling out the top middle and then when you get down to the mid to bottom of the cup the cupcake is like bread pudding...........HELP ME!

Good job!

But, what kind of salad?

Chicken BLT: Chicken has sugar in it, bacon has sugar in it, the dressing is crap

Mandarin Chicken:  Chicken has sugar in it, Oranges are in a sugary syrup, more sugary dressing

Southwest Taco:  The chili contains the same meat as the burgers and also contains sugar.  The chips are bad, the sour cream is bad, the dressing has sugar in it.

Chicken Caesar:  The chicken contains sugar, the croutons are bad

Caesar Side:  The bacon contains sugar

Side Salad:  This might be your only good option, depending on which dressing you get..

Are those better than a burger?  Honestly, I'm not sure.  You're not really getting protein or anything, just a bunch of sugar.  Maybe a burger would have been better for you.

Just some friendly information.  Use it as you wish.

I had the side sald with dressing(which I know is bad)

Although there may be more sugar and less nutrition in the salad the salad IMHO is a much healthier and more low calorie choice.

soory edit meant to say salad where burger used to be....

I almost never get FF anymore but sometimes im just in a pinch and a guys gotta eat. But Wendys is almost always my only option.

I get there grilled chicken sandwhichs with Lettuce tomato and pickles.

I do remember reading that McDonalds salads where very high in calories and sugar, and sometimes higher in fat drenching it in certain dressings, didnt know that about wendys. They arent to bad tho, No more trans fat there I believe.

Congrats on getting the salad over the burger, Healthy eating gets easier the more you do it so stick to your guns!

Not necessarily  -unless the salad is home made and teh dressing too.............hyou have no idea what they do the salad at fast food joints - I am sure you can find the nutrient breakdown somewhere and almost am sure I have seen this and if you are at wendys, the burger may not be all taht much worse...............now homemade is diff, but that goes for the burger too - although as I said above, these burgers are just like homemade, just pressed into squares, but pure.  its the may and ketchup and bread........... b ut the salads can have bread and sugars too so it can be a prettyclose fight.

I once read an article on Fast food and the article metioned that most of the major chains soak the fries,"if that's what you want to call them.." in a sugar based liquid..to enhance the flavor and give them a slighly sweet taste.. something that would appeal to kids..??

similar to what Italianangel said about McD's...

If all of us could visit the nasty, inhumane processing plants where most of this crap orginates from..and sit in on some of the meetings that take place regarding the chemicals that are added to the food to give it a distict appealing taste... most of use would probably never eat meat again...

I really do understand but for me I'd rather have a salad with 300 to 400 calories than a 300 calorie burger 300 calorie fries and a 250 calorie coke. for me I'll take the lower calorie one with less nutrtion. But I aprecciate all of the information that you have provided...
