I got a question - Sunday, March 23, 2008 10:12 AM ( #1 )
Last chest day I benched 175 for 4 sets of 3.
Tommorrow is chest day and I was wondering if I should go up on the weight or get more reps with 175.

Yeah you're supposed to keep all the sets in the 4-6 rep range. I only got 3 reps for the sets. So should I do 175 in the 4-6 rep range or go ahead and up the weight.

I read over it again too, but I couldn't find anything regarding this problem. I might have missed, I don't know.

unless you're doing negatives, or maxing out.. i would proceed to go for the 4 to 6 rep range.    while negatives can be VERY HELPFUL in gaining strength, moving up in weight wouldn't be a wise decision IMO.  wait till you hit at least 5 reps and then bump it up to 185 lbs.. or 180.

Keep the weight the same.  Go for 6 reps this time.  You can do it.  Psych yourself up.

You need to land in the rep range before trying to raise the weight.
