I have not been lifting for that long (only about 15 months now) so I am by no means an expert, but I would recommend buying a book (or borrowing from a library) for some basic basics. Personally I bought one crap book that I did for a while and now I am on "The New Rules of Lifting" by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove and I wish I had started with this book. I really feel like I get good workouts and have gained more lean muscle in a few months of this book than almost a year on my old routine. Another good one I'm told (and I did read over it a bit at the bookstore) is Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. But you did not ask the forum for book recommendations. I used to workout more often when I was on my crappy book, but I found out quickly that quality is better than quantity. Focus on three really good workouts a week instead of 6 so-so workouts. This is my current workout, I do it 3 days a week alternating routines: Routine A (Legs/Back) Squats Deadlifts Lunges Step-Ups Abs Routine B (UpperBody) Incline DB Bench Seated Row Shoulder Press Lat Pulldown Close Grip Bench High Pull Abs For me, if I feel like I could go to the gym multiple back to back days I know I didn't work hard enough while I was there. Up the weights and challenge yourself.

tony6176 hi and thanks for the message back it was very helpfull i agree about using books and so forth i was thinking of getting some dvds as i train at home on my multi gym and i can hook up on the tv in the gym room and hopefully follow there routine If you are just starting out, either "Starting Stregth" or "The New Rules of Lifting" would be perfect for you. tony6176 i buy muscle and fitness but can never find anything in it for beginers like myself but like you said it is finding the right litriture to work from Muscle & Fitness isn't realistic at all. All those guys are using Anabolic Steroids, so their recovery time and what they are capable of doing volume-wise is much different than us mere mortals. tony6176 i agree that i must cut down i was thinking about 1 day on and one day of working on upper then lower on altenate days im looking at youre routine and i might give that ago I believe a good full body routine done 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) is going to get the job done for you. tony6176 once again thanks for the advice That's what we are here for!
