How much protein can i have in one shake because I've made some 150 gram weght gainer mixed in with protein shakes but i was told its a waste that your body can only ingest 30 grams per serving is this true By the way does anyone reccomend a good weight gainer i take cyto-gainer right now and this stuffs great but is there anything else better.

Had the same question. I've got to eat 280g of protein a day to maintain my diet. That's ~45g/meal if I eat 6x a day. Does this mean I'm wasting 15g of protein a meal?

I doubt you are my teacher just told me that its 30 grams he could be wrong. My dad thinks its higher than 30

Another thread had mentioned that 25g in one serving is all the body can take and said the rest gets wasted. Can't remember which thread, but it was one asking about whey protein. BTW I'm not taking any gainers other than whey and Muscle Milk, not sure if those are considered gainers, but the Muscle Milk really helps me add cals (about 350 per serving).

lol not true about the 25g. thing and everybody is different so any "rules" in bodybuilding doesn't apply to everybody.well...almost every "rules" doesn't apply to everybody.

Yea, as you can see the number is around there, for big dudes its around 40-45g, for an average person 35g is recommended.

yes, thats why lifters choose whey, because it digests fast and the protein synthesis occurs faster.

i read somewhere that you can have about 50 somthign grams protein at a time, some of my meals daily consist of up for 80g protein and a shake about 60-70. i just have the extra every meal because i can, it probably does goto waste but still would help build mass.

Any protein your body cannot use at a specific time of digestion turns it into crap of the runny kind, we've had many topics about it as well I thought it was 45grams no matter how big you was, but i used to go for the 30grams mark each meal so no probs for me there. It also depends on your metabolic and catabolic rate as to everyones bodies dealing with different amounts of protein. As a general rule like 8pack said, the bigger you are the more your body will absorb due to it needing it to maintain the bodies muscle mass

it all depends on the type of proteins, differnet proteins digest at different rates therefore you could have like 70 grams but a mix of all different types, whey digests the fastest so yea 30-35 is enough. but go on a good mix and you can make your shakes in the 70's. i use muslce juice with 77 g protein and almost 1200 calories with the milk works beutifully, and im nto fat either i got 9% body fat
