Hi guys, soon I will start bodybuilding, and I just want to know how long it will take to get a fit as in athletic, not like bulging muscles but just plain fit? I dont do much exercise not but in last summer I used to go to Life Time Fitness and work out every other day. Here is my details: 6'0 180lbs, beer belly but not fat as in obese. How long do you think it will take to get my beer belly off and be normally fit so I can move onto getting my strength toned? Thank you for the answers.

if you eat right, and train correctly 1) you can keep or reven gain muscle, and lose fat, and 2) be "fit" within maybe a few months. getting your diet in order is the most important thing.

6'0 180lbs... I kinda feel like it'll take you a year or two to get the beerbelly off with working out like a beast, doing cardio AND having a great diet. It's not hard to get to it, its harder to keep it. quote:
Also do you reccomend running when working out? Yea man, you gotta have some kind of a cardio, BUT not when working out, do it on a different day

The idea with this sort of thing is to make a decision to eat healthy and exercise for life- We all want results as quickly as possible, but it's hard to put a timeline on things because everyone's different. Look at it this way- Eating healthy and exercising regularly will get you results in a few months, but you might not get ALL the results you want that quickly- You may have lost some pounds and gained some lean muscle, but you still might have a lot of work to do by the summertime. What you have to think about is how do you want to look a year from now, two years from now, etc- Eating right and working out is definitely the way to go, but a lot of people get discouraged when it doesn't get results in a few weeks or so.

ORIGINAL: cpl but it's hard to put a timeline on things because everyone's different. Look at me, I've been weightlifting for 1.5 years and have only gotten to a stage where i am fit and starting to gain any amount of muslce in the last couple of months. But some people in here like 8pack got big after 3 months or so.

I know your not going to the church.

ORIGINAL: 8pack So, Daviden, hows training going? where are you wroking out? I know your not going to the church. Actually, a lot better. Because, 1. I now get to weight train during school in gym. 2. Lunch is my period right after weight training. 3. Because there are other people in the class, I actually have a partner that ares about lifting. NO I'm not going to the church, but I think this new weightlifting during gym will work, after all, the calss is and 1.5 hours long, with .5 hour that I have to do for the class and at least an hour for me to lift. It's great. I'm finally seeing slight gains again.
