How to walk properly? - Friday, October 24, 2008 5:10 PM ( #1 )

I saw you walk, it was not abnormal. Not that I remember, anyway.

Do you have IBS? "Invisable lat syndrom". You know when you see a guy and his arms are out real wide like his lats are blocking his arms from resting at his side but really there is just air between his arms and sides. lol...I always think that is funny.

That's what happens to MOST people. Their internal rotators tighten up and their external rotators get long and weak from sitting and slouching forward a lot of the day, and as a result, all your body and posture leans that way.

Solution? Stretch internal rotators (Pecs, Lats) and strengthen external rotators (Rhomboids, Lower Traps, Subscapularis), how to strengthen these muscles? - With rowing movements focus on squeezing the rep at the top of the movement before bringing it back down, focus on that squeeze, it should be the most important part of a row/chin-up/pull-up.

You walk like you're about to kick anyone's a** who gets in your way.  It doesn't scare me though.

My friends call it ILS syndrome.  When I was really skinny I had a pretty big back and it looked that way.  Now I look more like a Silverback Ape in shape, and my back is like a car door.

to add to this make sure you have scapular retraction during rowing movements

That's what I implied by the squeeze at the top. But thanks for clarifying, I would've used proper terminology but I was tired as hell, lol. In any case, the more light shed on the subject the better.

And remember to beat good form and perfect posture into all your exercises with load. Chest out is a good guideline to help keep good posture.

They also dance with massive dumbbells when curling - which is their 2nd favourite exercise next to Bench Pressing.

I've listened to eye of the tiger doing that before.  Recently though I've been listening to the new All That Remains CD.  Pretty badass for running.

I usually punch my fist into my hands and crack my knuckles when I walk.

I hate those bouncing people!
