well keep lifting.. keep a good diet, get lots of sleep. Do more plyometrics and core (ab) workouts. Do lots of a running (sprints with very little rest between is the best for you). For instance if u have a football field to practice on.. sprint to the 10, turn around and sprint right back to the goal line.. then the 20.. 30.. so on and then get to 50 and then go 40, 30... or you can just keep going for all 100 yds..

Are you one of the bigger guys on your team? Concentrate on plyometrics, power cleans, squats and do lots of high intensity interval training, to simulate a game...

I think I responded to a post you had earlier about your workout- If I'm remembering right, you definitely need to change that up for the results you need when it comes to football. Do us a favor, re-post your workout here so I can be sure it's you I'm thinking of.

You really need to change that up. Too many muscle groups on Monday's workout, and working each muscle three times a week is a little too much. Your body should respond much better to something like this- Monday- Chest Flat bench, incline bench, decline bench Tuesday- Legs Squats, stiff leg deadlifts, calf raises Wednesday- Shoulders Standing military presses, side lateral raises, shrugs Thursday- Back Deadlifts, pullups, bent over rows Friday- Biceps and triceps Standing barbell curls, alternating dumbbell curls, reverse curls Close grip bench press, skullcrushers, dumbbell kickbacks Sat/Sun- Rest For each exercise, do three sets of eight to ten reps or so- That is, use an amount of weight that you can only do ten reps with good form on the first set. If you can lift it more than ten times with good form, the weight's too light. By the time you get to the second and third sets, you might not be able to lift it ten times anymore- But that's why we allow ourselves a couple of lower reps in our rep ranges. Do a couple of light warm up sets before each muscle group's workout- Two sets of ten reps, with a light weight to get the blood flowing. Rest two minutes between each set. Or, if you want to work everything twice a week, you could do something like this- Monday- Chest and back Tuesday- Legs and shoulders Wednesday- Arms and abs Thursday- Same as Monday Friday- Same as Tuesday Yes, arms and abs only get directly worked once- But there's plenty of indirect work for them during the rest of the week.

Wear brightly coloured sock or something, people won't miss you then....you may also get targeted however... Also think about what you will be doing in tryouts. Really work on your bench, 40 yard dash and vertical leap.... Look at incorporating plyometrics once the training gets going

There was VERY little difference in my weight routine between high school and college football. It's about strength, power and speed. We are talking bench, squat, power cleans and dead lifts. You said you were fast already so I'd worry about your power. Don't mistake strength for power. Lifting as a body builder is NOT the same thing as lifting as a football player. I would focus right now on your power exercises and if you want advice about being on a football team I'll give you 3 tips I was told that got me all the way through college. 1.) Keep your head up... ALWAYS especially when you hit someone. 2.) S-T-R-E-T-C-H !! More injuries happen because of this than anything else. 3.) Never play scared. If you do not only will your teammates know it but you could get seriously injured. If you play scared you will half heartedly take on a block or hit someone and you will get hurt. Good luck with your team and I hope you get something out of this.

What should you do? bust your balls. just go all out at 6' 220 and you say you're fast whats your 40? Where are you how good is/was your team? If I were you I'd go out for Linebacker. At 220 if you are fast and if you are on a good team then You'll get looked at by a few schools if your tackle #'s are respectable. But just go all out all the time and you'll make every team you try out for never let up and you'll make it I promise.

yes i agree to go out for lineback depending on your age possibly defensive end if your fast and you work on your power you could make a very good d end because in todays world a fast d end is key

Weighing 220 lbs and being about 6 foot, if i were u and i ran from a 5.0 or higher i would try out for DT or MLB, and if I ran a 4.7 to 4.9 I would play DE, and 4.7 or lower I would try out for OLB or safety.

these ar eprinciples u learn throught athletic training.. Muscluar strength is the ammount of weight you can lift..muscular power is the ammount of weight you can lift at anygiven time.. muscular endurance is th eammount of weight u can lift repititively..
