How much strength have you lost in cutting?

I have now lost a lot unfortunately. I must of lost about 20-30 pounds off of my maximum bench press. The price you pay if you don't want to do it the DanMirage way I suppose. Splendid.

But may I add that there are two-sides to every coin. I am trimmer now, my physique is getting better by the month and I am deadlifting more then I ever have. I think I am happier looking better then being stronger and allocating the title of Sir Pork chop.

well, this passt september i competed in IPF world cahmionships of powerlifting...and i was very strong at weighing 297 lbs. I squatted 676, benched 439, and DLed 606....and not im down to 264, and i might be able to squat 550, bench 350 and my max DL went up to 620. Since i lost it all in 6 weeks, i suffered..but like u said i would rather look good then be strong....i will be strong again someday but for now i would rather look better. Unless ur an athlete, being big does nothing for u, but make u die earlier and be outta shape and stuff.

Nice to see someone from the same school of thought. Some big losses there but you're still pretty strong anyway.

I think he means that and all the sides that come with it - cholesterol, blood pressure etc.

It probably also depends what level you are at when you are cutting. If your strength is still relatively low, then you can still make gains. Im not sure just what i have experienced

im with ya guys on the losing strength while cutting. i've been cutting for 3 weeks, with HIIT cardio 5x a week in the morning and weight training at night (max ot). have kept up the protein shakes, added BCAAs, glutamine, and casein at night. but i used to be able to dumbbell press 115 in each hand for 6 reps. now i can barely get up 6 at 105. i used to shoulder press 85 lb dumbbells for 6 all by myself and now can barely get up 6 at 80 (and i need help getting the first one up). my squat weight hasnt changed and i dont deadlift too often so i cant judge that. but it does get depressing losing all that strength especially when you see other guys lifting weright u used to be able to do. on the bright side, i have lost 11 lbs and do feel my stomach has gotten smaller. i try to focus on that.

i'm with you guys i have lost 30 lb's now it doesn't seem like it's been htat much to me but it is went from 222 to now sittin at 190 but hey thats what happens when summer comes around i have lost about 35 to 40 lbs of my bench you figure that by getting smaller you still have same muscle right yes but loss of inches is i think what hurts you on bench i have lost about 1.25 in off my chest while cutting so i have to bring it down farther then before but i have only lost 1/4 in off my bi's i think that was just fat cause they are harder and more cut up then before this is the way i look at it nothing in this world is free you want to build muscle a little fat usually comes with it want to loose fat a little muscle goes with it just an idea
Height 5'10" Weight 200lbs Incline bench press 300 curl 115 5 times sitting down Skull crushers 105 lbs 12 times 4 sets One arm Bent over row 90 lb dumbell 4x12 Body fat 14.2

Are you really loseing strength, or doing proper form.... my squats have gone down... but my ass is touching the floor on these... My benches are down a tad, but the bar touches my chest, and I hold the bar down getting a good stretch... My Lat Pulls are lower, but My chest is puffed, and I can feel every inch of my lats working... I now go slow, and squeeze down and up... Dont discredit that your working out more effectivly now and not cheating... Unless your loseing massive amounts of muscle, your most likely gaining strength...which loseing fat, which is totally possible... On a good note, my preacher curls are WAAAY up
Eat...Lift....Sleep......Repeat Enjoy the process.. but crave the goal.
