How do you make sweet potatoes? - Wednesday, March 24, 2004 12:58 PM ( #1 )
I have never liked this food, but I am going to give it a try. So once I nuke it, then what? What can you put on it? Are there any recipes for it?

Thanks!

I cook them just like I would regular baked potatoes, though they do seem to cook faster. Generally I start them off in the microwave then finish them off in the oven so they have that nice crispy skin :)

As a kid the only time i had them was Thanksgiving, and they were buried under brown sugar and marshmallow fluff and I HATED them. Now that I'm cooking them myself without all the extra sugar, I like them a lot.

You could probably make pan-fried sweet potato "french fries" or something too. Anything you can do with a potato you can probabl do with a sweet patato with some adjustments.

Eww I can't stand sweet potatoes... something about potatoes being sweet doesnt work for me. The only time I'll eat a potato is if its completely covered in butter and sour cream.. mmmmm

Slice them up.

Steam them.

DO NOT EAT RAW.. OMG.. I did that.. Tum tum was upset. Not cool.

But steamed.. good stuff. Or mash them up after you boil them. Mashed sweet potatos are good as well.

Do you put anything in them when you mash them?

Man, on Atkins, I could have the butter, cheese and sour cream, but not the potatoes.

On BFFM, I can have the potatoes, but not the butter, sour cream and cheese!

What's a girl gotta do to get some good mashed potatoes around here??? LOL.

Do some extra cardio beforehand, then enjoy them without guilt?

Don't listen to him. Powerhaus is a sugar lover.

I don't put anything on the sweet potatos. Mashed or not. They are awesome.

On a regular potato you can get Molly McButter or something which is good. And a little salt and pepper. Onions are fine. No sour cream or just go light on it.
