HomeMade Weight Gainer Shakes - Friday, August 04, 2006 3:02 AM ( #1 )
I was wondering if something like this would be appropriate, not sure how it would taste. Also would this be alright to consume everyday, say half hour before sleep, or would the icecream provide too much fats? Thanks

1 cup milk
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 scoop of icecream
1 tablespoon of peanut butter

and blend together...

you could add semi-skimmed milk powder to it and instead of peanut butteer add milkshake powder

yea, i got milk powder at home, but it like half a yr ago, but only used it a few times. might try using it, but i dun think it's skim. anywayz, i'll look at that site u provided. btw, anyone have any milkshake gainers they make themselves, without using of course protein powder in it.

what about this before bed everynight?

Don't know how calories it would provide but looks ok to me. I've never had blueberries, but it seems on alot of websites, they mention it for shakes. What exactly does blueberries taste like? LOL...think the best way would to try it out for myself! :D

That's not bad.  Try substituting plain (low fat?) yogurt for the milk, and if you want a more ice-cream shake-like experience, add some ice cubes before blending.

Use any berry you want:  blue, straw, rasp, black, boysen, etc.  They're all great for you.  Consider adding some protein powder to it, too.  If you need it a little sweeter, add a bit of apple (skin and all).

thanks. i'm just using the milk instead of yougurt due to its higher content of calcium. and i'm not really needing protein as my protein intake for the days are adequate. the shake is to sneak in some extra calories that i need.

I'm guessing this would provide around:

milk: 130 calories
half cup of berries: 50 calories
oatmeal: 200 calories:
water/ice cubes: nil

= 380 calories....

Looks alright for the moment...

I was suggesting yogurt because it cuts down on the sugar (from the milk; the bacteria that make the yogurt will use some of the sugars from it).  Yogurt and milk shouldn't have any significant calcium differences per unit volume, unless the milk has added calcium that the yogurt doesn't.

yea, i'll take your suggestion into consideration...yea, the milk i buy is a new brand, came out like a few months ago. like for every glass (250ml), you get around 500mg of calcium in comparison to normal milks which give around 350mg....

Ive tried that Ski, does give you some extra calories, but the taste just doesn't quite sit right with me, I dunno what the problem is...

anywayz, does any one have their own recipes for weight gaining shakes? i don't really need it to have a high protein content as i already consume sufficient amounds for the day, all i'm lookin is calorie-dense shake.

hehehe..i finally blended this reciepe up, but man.it was a waste, i poured it out after two sips, it tasted like crap...i used strawberries as fruit..but yea, the shake tasted absolutely crap!!

  I make mine with ice cream, mixed berries whey protein and millk. I can't remember the measurements since I've been makeing it so long I can eyeball it and it's close to the original. I think it came out around 1000 calories and 60 grams of protein. sometimes I will mix it with 1 scoop of serious mass which puts it around 1500 calories, but I usually use whey.

It is mostly icecream, 1/3 bag of berries, 2 scoops of whey, and add milk until it will actually pour.

It kind of tastes like the gladiator from smmoothie king.
If it wasn't painfully difficult then you didn't do it right

Try blending 2 cups of skimmed milk with a banana, a couple of scoops of unflavoured protein powder & a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter.  I did it when my weight gainer ran out & it filled the gap pretty well.

My friend is columbian and his family made me a drink from their home country and it gave me a idea to something similar to this one. It is very good, try it.
 
1 cup of skimmed milk, 1/2 cup of oatmill, 4 table spoons of cinnamin, half cup of splenda. Very good and full of cal. Maybe good for a pre work out snack when bulking.
