I would start off with 8-12 reps on your heavy compound exercises (squats, deadlifts, bench, shoulder press, bb row) and 15-20 on any isolations you do.  This will acclimate your joints to the stresses of weight lifting.  Once you have become accustomed to this rep range I would drop it down to few reps and increase the weight.  Getting bigger is a component of your diet alone.  If you want to get bigger you need to eat more.

To figure out how many calories you need can be pretty complicated.  An easy way I use is to eat the same foods for a week, weighing myself 3 times a day and taking the average of these numbers.  At the end of the week you should evaluate the numbers and see if you are gaining weight, losing weight, or staying the same.  If you are losing weight then you aren't eating enough, if you are staying the same you are at your maitenance level for calories and if you are gaining weight then you are obviously in a caloric surplus.

Next time you don't like the someone's answer, argue about it in that thread, don't start a new one with the same question, it just clutters the forum.

That's because that is the answer, instead of asking so many questions get your ass in the gym and lift. Look up starting strength and buy the book, follow the routine with good form, eat ALOT and you shouldn't have any questions for 6 months. This isn't to sound like a dueche either, if you do that you will be 25+ lb. heavier and alot stronger.
Goals by end of 2009:
Bench 205
Squat 255 ATG
Squat Clean 185
