Hi! -> I'm fat. (Steak and Eggs diet?) - Wednesday, June 03, 2009 1:31 AM ( #1 )
I just tried my own little diet for two weeks and I haven't lost any weight and I was hungry all the time.  I was basically just trying to keep my calories below 2,000.

Maybe that wasn't the correct type of diet or w/e.

I want to try the Steak(Meat?)/Eggs/Cheese diet (I love cheese).

Couple questions..
-Sauce? How do I get flavor on my meats without carbs?
-My job -> I work Days and Nights 12 hours at a clip.. How do I Steak and Egg it on the go?
-Drinks? -> Just water? Can I have milk? And if I feel the need to be drunk should it be light beer or liquor?

My interests with this diet? Currently I"m almost 240 pounds and my recommended weight is about 175 pounds.  I'd like to get to 200 pounds before the end of the year.  Up until the past two weeks the food I eat has went into my face mostly unchecked and I know litttle to nothing about dieting.  My levels of exercise vary with my activity level at work (Operations at a power plant we get busy from time to time.).  I was looking strictly losing wait while maintaining my current activity levels though so hopefully diet is the best place to look.

Guildlines for this diet? Is it as simple as eating meat/egg/cheese three times a day?

EDIT: -> Please don't be fooled, I understand this might seem like a weight loss topic but I have legitamite food questions here.

You know steak is massively high in fat? You'd be better off with white meat like chicken, or fish which would also give you EFA's. Really no reason to be eating steak to cut.

If you're going to go the low carb route, maybe look into Keto.  I've never tried it, but many people have said great things about it.

lol one must eat high fat if theyre not eating carbs.

Anyway this basically is keto, and it will work well.  You can eat more than just steak eggs and cheese though why are you worried about getting it at work?  Maybe you just dont understand what this diet is doing.  Its giving you a high amount of fat and enough protein to preserve muscle if you do it right without carbs so that you will switch into ketosis to burn fat for energy.  You can eat anything that fulfills these requirements.

I use eggs, canned tuna, mayonnaise, cheese, chicken, basically any other meat including sausage type meats, small amounts of peanut butter and nuts (dont go overboard because there are a small amount of carbs in them and you shouldnt go over 30 carbs a day)

hot sauce and mustard are my favorites to add to foods

Honestly atkins is more for people who just want to lose weight and dont really care about muscle loss.  If youre gonna go tha low carb route, do a cyclical ketogenic diet or some other type of ketogenic diet.  And eat your steak

I don't know exactly how Atkins works, but CKD is:

Your lean bodyweight * 1.5 = grams of protien to eat per day
Then the rest of the foods you eat to meet your caloric goals are to be made up of fats.

You carb load on 2 days on CKD too.

OK, I've asked this question before, but:

What is the point of "loading carbs" 2 days outta the week if the whole idea behind a Keto diet is to keep your body in ketosis?  Doesn't "loading carbs" knock your body outta ketosis?  And if you're doing this every 2 days, that seems like it's going to be knocking you outta ketosis right as your body is getting back into it...?

Im so confruzzled~

Atkins does not really work, unless you are wanting to lose and and all of the muscle that may be on your body.  The meat and fat civilizations had good meats and fats.  Most of the meats would be from a lake, river, or sea so they would be high in nutrients and good fats.  Fish and other waterlife eat a ton of other fish, and sea veggies that makes you get your veggies too.  I could never condone a meat diet  unless your meat was mainly fish.  Just my two cents. I hope whatever you do works out for you.
Initial weight loss on the Atkins plan is water leaving your muscles, then the muscle can no longer support glycogen stores like they used to, and they shrink.  Since you are on a BBing site, and not a weightloss sight, which there are tons, I am thinking you are interested in more than just getting skinny.

So are you lumping Cyclical Keto diets in with Atkins?  Just curious... I've seen a lot of ppl around here promoting CKD's pretty heavily

Beef from grass-fed cattle is the best way to go regarding meat consumption.  The saturated fat and cholesterol in it is GOOD for you.  And it has levels of Omega-3's comparable to that of salmon and other fatty fish.

On top of that, raw milk from grass-fed cattle is EXTREMELY GOOD for you.

Right on.  Very few people seem to think this way, even health nuts interested in bodybuilding

a ckd is a muscle preserving, fat loss diet

atkins is a weight loss diet

the ckd is obviously superior for anyone who is concerned with muscle mass.

The carbload is used to preserve any muscle you may have lost during tha week and to replenish glycogen as your lifts will go down when you are glycogen depleted.  Muscle sparing is important because muscle is what burns calories and losing muscle will decrease your fat burning capabilities.  Thats why its important to feed the muscle and burn the fat, not just burn the fat.

Well I did no-carbs since the 5th and started at 238.5 lbs.  I was a bit scared when the scale read 229.6 lbs this morning.  I've been drinking alot of water because I've been reading most of what you lose in the first two weeks is water weight (but damn really?).

Flavor of my breath has indeed changed a little, I wouldn't say it tastes fruity or metallic though.

I've been at work for like 5 straight days so I haven't had any time to lift weights (12 hour shifts in a power plant is hard work :(

Question of the day, it's friday night guys if I want to consume some alcohol what is a good way to do it without blowing this diet all to hell? I know beer is absolutely not ok, is there any ketosis friendly alternative other then sober? I've also read that hard liquor and some wine's are lighter on carbs but if I'm on my way (or in) ketosis am I gonna screw up the process having like 4-5 shots?

@the CKD diet- I don't understand how to do this intellegently yet and haven't had enough time to read more on it.  Right now I'm just doing the carb starving thing similar to what I've read the induction phase of atkins is about.  But the concept of cycling carbs to prevent muscle loss excites me (don't lose faith in fat man yet please)

If it's carb up time, I would just drink. I dunno, when I carb up I go crazy and it seems to help burn more fat or something because of the hormonal response.

honestly i dont think alcohol is a good idea on a CKD, especially when you are not carb loading. if u are in ketosis and u consume alcohol u will drop out of ketosis very quickly until all the alcohol is out of ur system. when u consume alcohol ur body will burn alcohol as a preference fuel to fat or carbs

this obviously would be detrimental to the diet so i wouldnt recommend it. this diet takes willpower and dedication but as someone who is currently using CKD i can promise u the results are phenomenal.
