Help with Weight Gainer and NO2 products - Wednesday, January 05, 2005 1:03 PM
Hey everyone,
I just joined the forum and had a couple of questions about some supplements, but first I tell you about my situation. I am 20 years old and have been training for about 5 years. I also just started working as a personal trainer and have a pretty big background on training. Unfortunately, my knowledge on supplements is really bad, I feel like a sucker when I walk into a health store because I don't know what a scam and what's not. My physique overall is pretty good, I'm 5'11 at 180lbs. I'm pretty ripped and well porportioned but I want to push past my plateau with some supplementation and gain some more muscle mass.

I was thinking about these weight gainers and want to know your thoughts and what's best for my situation:
Muscletech - Mass Tech
Ultimate Nutrition - Muscle Juice 2544
Cytosport - Cytogainer
Prolab - N Large II

Also I want to use some No2, some guy I know can get me pretty good prices and the pinnacle stuff but I'm just wondering if it's any good:
Pinnacle - NOx2
Universal - NOx3 (is this any better or just a scam the guy said it was better)
MRI - No2 (really expensive is it worth it)

and I live in canada so I'm not sure if BSN - Nitrix is not sold here becuase I haven't seen it.

Thanks for the help.

Hey. I've been taking CytoGainer over the past couple of months, and I eally like it. I'm not sure about those other wieght gainers, but you get Creatine and Glutamine in CytoGainer. I really have enjoyed taking it, because I've gained a lot f muscle mass.

You can make your own Weight Gainer for cheaper, by adding dextrose to your protein shake with 1/2 milk and 1/2 Juice and a mix a Banana on the blender ! and for NO2, i try it one time and i was disapointed ! Great pump but what else ? If you need a good motivator, maybe its for you ... If you want to give a try, maybe try the MRI.

Instead of NO2 I would suggest supplementing pure L-Arginine. I buy a pound of NOW brand for about $22 and capsulize it into 1500mg doses. I take two first thing in the morning and two before bedtime. There are numerous benefits, not the least of which is production of HGH. Before you supplement for mass building, what it your diet?

thanks for the suggestion guys but i rather just have the stuff ready-made and ready to take.

As for my diet, well...here's what it's usually like:

breakfast between 10am or 12am (i know late breakfast huh?):
2 scrambled eggs
1 whole can of kidney beans
1 glass of orange juice

or

3 packets of oatmeal
1 glass of milk
2 bananas

lunch around 2pm or 4pm:
spaghetti with ground beef
chocolate milk

or

Whole wheat sandwich
with chicken breast and lettuce
chocolate milk

go to work

Afternoon break meal, around 6pm or 8pm: Fastfood
2 Wendy's bacon cheeseburger
bottle of water

or

slice of meat lover's pizza
bag of chips
can of root beer

go home, around 10pm to 11pm:
Beef stew with rice, potatoes, and other vegetables
glass of fruit juice

or

Chicken breast with rice and vegetables
glass of fruit juice

and throughout the day I drink about 8 to10 bottles of water.

anybody have any idea about this pinnacle no2 stuff?
working out and trying to get huge is expensive, so I rather have some kind of supplement to add to the meals I eat, adding more meals would kill my budget. Right now, i am not taking anything...after my workout I usually have chocolate milk, and some sort of meal

Honestly, you need to revamp your diet. Quit the fast food and save your money. Get rid of the chips and soda, too. Supplements will not help you on a diet like that. Eating correctly will not bankrupt you the way you think it will. You should be able to get by on about 3000 calories a day, spaced out over 5-6 meals. Get rid of any butter, sugar, white flour, and any products containing these ingredients. Eat your biggest meal after your workout, because that's when your body really needs it. That's also when you can eat your sugar if you can't do without. Oatmeal and Oat Bran are excellent choices. So are turkey, chicken, seafood, skim milk, cottage cheese, plain yogurt, vegetables, most fruit, long grain brown rice, pasta, natural peanut butter, and beans. The problem with eating right is the need to get creative with cooking. Check the Recipes Forum. I have supplemented my ass off and you can take my advice or leave it. I did not experience anything of great value until I started feeding my body what it needs. And yes, I've tried MRI NO2 and NOX3. I also tried VPX Plasma Expandor, which was even better, but still not as good as eating right.

thanks for the suggestions again...just a few things...the reason I will eat some fast food is becuase I was told that I needed to gain some more calories to gain mass and that was the easiest way...accroding to some bodybuilders I've met...but I see that the easiest way is not always the best way and a lot of those calories may be the wrong kinds that i want. You said skim milk is good but what about chocolate milk it's got 1% milk, or is there too much sugar, I barely drink pop, that was only a couple days ago, but not a regular thing...and eggs you did not mention them...I scramble my eggs with margarine...it can't be all that bad.
I would appreciate if you could give me a sample diet like the one I have posted but instead edited...I will also check out the link you posted for recipes.
Also, need an answer to the supplements....once I fix my diet... is it a good idea to take any of these products, or just stick to good food.

Sorry, I forgot eggs. I would stay away from all butter and sugar. Use olive oil instead of butter. Splenda makes a good sugar sub. After you get your diet sorted out give it a few weeks to see if you even want to supplement. Generally, a good diet will do the trick. If anything, you might need a protein powder like Optimum Nutrition for whenever you can't make your protein goals. You should be eating 30-40g protein each time you stuff your mouth. You can kick that up to 40-45g right after a workout. Consider creatine as well. My personal belief is that creatine, Arginine, protein, Glutamine, and multivitamins are about the only supplements worth a crap.

Does this work well for you though? I just know that part of what L-Arginine does is create Nitric Oxide, but that can only exist for very short periods of time; thus the implementation of things like physer3/physer9 that go with NO2. Does L-Arginine get around this problem by simply converting to NO2 over a period of time? Also, I read that the agent that carries L-Arginine to be developed shuts down if it encounters too mcuh of the L-Arginine. Is this true, and does that affect the dosage amount that u take (3 grams)? Lasty, and this is a stupid question, where do you purchase the capsules - found the powder easy enough, but not much luck with the capsules?

All I can tell you is personal experience. I am carrying about ten pounds of extra liquid weight because of the stuff. It doesn't feel quite the same as the NO2 did, but then again I was taking that stuff when it was cheap and I first got back into lifting again. The way I figured out the dose was by increasing my intake until I started getting diarrhea and then I tapered off. I don't recommend this because I am an idiot. As idiotic as I am, I recommend against Prohormones and some people still don't listen to me. Anyway, you can get the capsules and the capsulizer from kilosports. I use the 000 size and I also bought the 00 tamper which works on 000 also. One final note: L-Arginine is not reported to be the same as NO2 or any of its clones. It is supplemented by a much broader base even including older people for circulation, erections, HGH levels, well-being, and even skin conditions. Don't believe the hype.

no2 is great. ive been on it for a couple of weeks and am startin to "feel" bigger. my veins usually stick out even when im doin nothing. this topic is discussed all the time but it definatly makes you feel bigger and makes you push yourself more for that "im big" feeling. i love it so far.

So Nav -
Is the only major effect you're getting from the L-Arginine the pumps, or have you also experienced things like faster recovery, strength increase (from several things; HGH, increased protein systhesis, etc.)?

Also, does the L-Arginine and Creatine EEC combo need to be cycled? The book NO2 - The 21 Day Transformation, somewhat the official book on NO2 by its creator, says that you don't need to cycle either of these products, but in a different thread I say someone mention that you do. What's right in this case?

It's really tough to say which does what. I cycle creatine, but not Arginine. Both provide a pumped feeling and both increase energy. If Arginine or even NO2 decrease recovery time it doesn't do a significant job with me. I am on a weekly workout schedule anyway. One thing I did notice was when I first started taking the Arginine I had a dramatic change in blood pressure when I worked out, especially legs. I would seriously almost pass out because major blood vessels were dilating quickly. They are still both supplements, so whatever changes they make to your physiology are miniscule compared to good diet. I'm sure everyone has different reactions as well. The good news is that my way is cheap enough to give it a try and see for yourself.
