Help!!
-
Tuesday, June 14, 2005 9:34 AM
I started a weight loss program in August of last year, and to date I've lost close to 60 pounds. Two months ago I started walking on a tread mill 5 days a week, and I'm currently walking 4 miles an hour, at a grade 4, and I'm doing 2 miles in just over 32 minutes....First question...is that enough? I would also like to add some weight lifting in with my workout to start toning the "flabby" stuff, but I don't have a clue where to start or how to start. Please help! I have a local gym with a boflex type machine.

Hycotton70- Welcome to DB! First, congratulations on losing 60 lbs. That is great. First answer. That's enough. I mean, you lost 60 lbs! Whatever you are doing is working so why change a thing? When it quits working and you still need to lose weight then the answer will be no. But right now, yes. It's enough. It's working. Second, if you want to add lifting to the scheme of things, no problem. Check out this sample routine. I'm going to link you to a full body beginning workout. If you are unsure of how to do the exercises, you might be able to get a personal trainer or a trusted friend to show you how. Or do some research in the Training forum as there is a great post on How to Do a Particular Exercise. Beginning Weight Lifting Program Then when you are serious about getting this all together and just sitting down, reading and learning about nutrition, supplements and training, you will find a link on this post to the book I wrote on Beginning Bodybuilding. It's 250 pages. But it kick starts you in the right direction.

Besides all that there's something I'd like to add, skip the bowflex, you'll have much more success if you learn how to use free weights.
