Help with Basics - Wednesday, September 24, 2008 12:58 PM
Hi I just wanted to know what are some supplements to help my muscles recover quicker and rebuild faster than with just protein alone. I was hoping there would be some inexpensive supplements that I may be able to purchase that would be efficient enough. I am not really looking for the hardcore or super-potent products, just some simple and effective supps, if what I am searching for actually exists. Thanks alot.

food and creatine are gunna be the only 2.  Food being more important of the 2.  Also REST IS PARAMOUNT.

Supplements are pointless.  With a name like "newbie", you should be concerned with your diet and training NOT supplements.  Hell, even if you're not a newbie, those should be the only 2 things you should be worried about.

But as Soccerking said - FOOD.  I disagree with creatine, but I've never used it so I wouldn't know what the effects are.

I do take protien, but that's only because I have trouble getting about 200 grams of protien per day from food alone.  If you can get that much protein from food alone, then you don't even need that.

Training, food, and rest are the only things you should be concerned with though seriously.

Not really to be considered supplements, but a good multi and some fish oils will help if you are not aready taking them.

I could write a whole list of pure amino acids and when to take them but I may get crucified.

i completely agree that intense workout and 5-6 meals a day and may be after sometine a good protein shake (ON 100% whey) will be a good one to start with.
But one shud remember that supplements are in addition to not instead of so nothing can replace a whole meal..and a good diet.
