Final,
Dude, there's hope!  Not to worry!!  Tell me you've heard us tell you you need to eat a crapload more of food than you are?!  If not, then let me say, "EAT!"  And then do it over and over.  Others can suggest a diet.  My 2c is you just need to eat whatever your eyes see.  I don't care what it is.  Others feel free to flame me away to a crisp:  This boys doesn't need to worry about a perfect diet.  He needs to shovel down calories, imo.
For the resistance training, what you have just isn't going to cut it.  Go to Sears or search ebay or your classified for a used barbell, dumbell, bench set.  I got mine when I was a teen for $50 I think.  Of course that was 30 years ago!  You can get free weights dirt cheap, especially considering all the New Years' Resolution bandwagoners who give up by Three Kings Day!
Eat and lift free weights.  There's no two ways around those givens.  In my opinion, put the money you're thinking of blowing on supplements and gainer shakes into some cheap home free weights.  Buy Cheerios by the trash bag full.  Chicken is 1/2 off in my grocery store every couple weeks.  Stock up.  Chug whole milk down, although that gets expensive.  Eggs.  Do you have a Costco near you:  6 lb EAS protein powder for $30.  A steal!  Others will give you more thorough diet advice but from my perspective you don't need to overthink the diet.  You need to spend THAT energy stuffing your talker.
Best of luck and good workin' out!  :)

Final,
I'm not saying throw all logic out the window.  Deciding between a baked potato and french fries takes less than a second, and we all know what the sensible choice is.  I'm just saying at your stage, I don't think you have to overanalyze the whole diet thing.  In my experience overthinking leads to frustration leads to slipping on the plan.  How many times have I been too tired or busy to make the perfect meal when I could've just thrown a potato in the microwave, peanut buttered some toast, poured myself a glass of milk.  Have lots of clean simple food in the cupboards and the fridge, stuff that's a no-brainer to prepare and eat.
Regarding not having money, I don't quite understand:  You mentioned being willing to take a gainer shake.  That's probably $40 a month for that, no?  I'm just saying skip that (replace with store bought food) and get yourself some cheap weights.  Do you room for them at home or wherever?
MVP or someone can help you better with routine, but I'll take a stab at a no cost program for kicks:

You're 16.  Your high school doesn't have a weight room?  I can understand that could be intimidating.
You can get a set of bands at Walmart for $10 I think.
Pushups.
Get a broomstick and a couple 5 gallon buckets.  That'll make an up to 80 lb barbell.  Do squats, bent over rows, standing overhead presses, deadlifts with those.
Figure out a way to do pullups.
Look for an outdoor free fitness circuit/walk at a park near you and do that.  Mine's called a Parcourse.
Find a tall building, a stadium, or a steep hill and do some climbing.
Figure out a way to do pullups/chinups.  I used the swingset at my kids' playground for that.

I don't mean to be blunt, but I sense you're thinking and not doing.  Get off the computer and go outside and find something to lift.  Know what I mean?  You will never put on muscle by forever planning to put on muscle.

Go to the fridge.  Pull out a couple gallons of milk.  Do 100 curls with them.  Then guzzle your reward:  a couple tall glasses of ice cold moo juice!  Ahhhh!

Good luck and good workin' out!  :)
