Does anyone use a heart rate monitor?  I was thinking of getting one but don't really sure their worth the $50+ to have.

I use one all the time when doing cardio. It's a Polar that comes with both the watch and the monitoring band you wear around your chest (some only have the watch with a sensor). So far it has been great - very accurate. The cool thing about it is it works with most of the built-in HRM's in the treadmills, ellipticals and bikes. Yes they are expensive but if you are really serious about getting one it is worth the $ to get a good one.
