If you're like me, you hardly ever cook your meals fresh. You are constently eating reheated and defrosted foods that you prepared in bulk. Anyone here like reheated rice? Didn't think so. And if you've ever tried making rice then sticking it in the fridge, you know it goes dry. Even worse, you know that if you cook it then leave it in a sealed container in the pantry, it goes bad. Simple solution. We all need healthy monos and polyunsaturated fats right? Add 1 tbsp Sesame Oil to every 3/4 cups of prepared brown rice. I make 3/4C rice because that's how my rice cooker is set up. Then when it's done, I put it in one of those glad reusable plastic containers, mix in 1tbsp of Sesame oil, and seal it and put it in the fridge. The next day when it comes time to eat the rice, it's pretty much a good amount for the day to either scarf at one meal or spread it out throughout the day. The sesame oil gives the rice a distinct flavor, but definitely not overpowering. It also helps for when you heat it up in the microwve. I've only reheated it in the microwave with chicken on top of it, but it comes out moist and fresh. It's not sticky like that great white rice you can get at a vietnamese restaurant or anything, but importantly it goes down really easily and has some sort of discernable flavor. Give it a try. I think it's a great way to get some of those good fats into the diet too!

Good call. Sesame and rice are great flavors together.

good suggestion, heres my twist on it. Cook loads of brown rice at once, then drain it and lets it cool, make sure it is completely dry. this is very important!!!!! You can then freeze it all in one box and because there is no water in between the rice it will seperate easily when you want to use it. Then when its time to eat simply heat up your sesame oil in a wok or frying pan until smoking hot! then add two or three handfuls of your frozen rice and cook for a couple of minutes until thoroughly heated through, done tasty and quick! If you want to add some more nuritional goodness, throw in two beaten eggs and fry whilst stirring, then a handful of cooked shredded chicken and a handful of frozen peas. In under five minutes you have a meal rich in protein, carbs and essential oils! presto. it also tastes great cold for work the next day, plus you can substitute the chicken for pork, fish , beef or more veg, whatever takes your fancy. I love cooking the chinese way, its real fast, healthy and damn delicious.
