Had some questions about workout equipment - Thursday, April 26, 2007 10:04 AM
I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas and suggestions on what exercise equipment that I need to start working out at home. I would like to compile my own gym in my garage at my house I need some suggestions. I am mostly going to be concentrating on free weighs with minimal amount of machines. I was thinking or having dumbbells with a bench (inclinde and decline) for bench press and a lat pull down and row machine. I mostly want to be able to use my bench press for squats too.

First, I need dumbbells. Im not too picky about this so anything will do. I need from around 15lbs to 70lbs.

Second, a bench. One which can incline and decline for bench presses.

Third, a bench press machine.

Fourth, a row and lat machine in one. I am not picky and anything will do as long as it gets the job done.

Again my garage is a little bigger than my car which is a 2005 Nissan Altima. My car fits in the garage nicely with about 2 feet on every side. I also have a spare bedroom which could be used for more equipment if needed. Please give me some feedback and suggestions. Please inform me on the price range I will be spending.

And lastly I would like talk to someone who knows a good deal about lifting and cardio to tell me what kind of workout routine to get started on.

When I cant go to the gym I have my lil homegym for backup, very basic.

I have 2 Benches

these one is great cause I can work pecs using DB (DumbBells) in the 3 diff. positions.

the other bench has support for the bar and the extension/leg curl at the end. (cant handle too much weight)

about the DB I have different disk weights so I can add disks until I get to the desired weight to lift. brand are YORK and they are good.

about gaining muscle weight and losing body fat with cardio, i just read a message they sent you when you are a new user and it says something like this.

"CAN YOU LOSE FAT AND BUILD MSCLE AT THE SAME TIME?"

look, theres is a great ZEN story that basically answer this:

"He who chases two rabbits , end up with none"

"this is very difficult, it can be done in some unique circunstances, but for most of the part it isn`t impossible"
