My girlfriend was recently diagnosed with one of the "High Risk" strains, my guess being HPV-16 as it is most common, however the doc didn't give her a strain designation. When she went to the surgeon, they said it was pre-cancerous. She had her cervix operated on 3 weeks ago. She is 21. It's not a fun surgery, although none are. This is not something to be taken lightly, please, for all of your sake's, get tested... your body will take care of the virus with time, but the cancerous strains can leave their mark.

yes. It is quite common that people contract HPV before they lose their virginity. Often in their first sexual experience. It is problematic because there are hundreds of HPV strains, and the ones that are cancerous don't have any physical effects on males.
