My Major is Exercise Science and Bioscience.
I work with the University Human Perfomance Lab where we are investigating a number of performance measures and means of enhancing them, including buffering blood to enable more intense training before acids inhibit certain processes, enhancing lifetime innate immunity through intense exercise, and certain movement based investigations for intensley trained athletes.

Among other things, previously I have also performed duties as a Personal Trainer, Wellness Consultant, Teacher and Researcher in Complete nutrition diet design intervention for undernourished populations in non-industrial and industrial countries through teaching small scale food growing for production of complete nutrition diets for optimal health and performance.

Cheers!

Excellent!

Well, it all depends on what really interests you.  Volunteer some hours working with PT/OTs and see how that is for you.  Intern doing some work in a human performance lab and see if that appeals to you.

If you don't care about the hours and the next couple of years in preparation and want to earn much more...then maybe a med specialty?

Look into summer internships in fields that interest you.  Also look at the presentations at ACSM or ISSN conferences.  Who does research in the area that you love?  Read their work and the work it is based on.  Develop questions and go to the summit and meet them!

After all that, I am pretty sure your desires will narrow the field.
I was slated to go through a micro-bio circuit, but I hate all the microscopy hours.  I switched to Cell Bio, Neuroanatomy, Endocrinology...
THAT interested me!  I want to know how everything in the body works and how it can be tweaked!

What you are doing is Great!

There is fantastic work looking at pre, during, and post levels of hormones, energy substrates, and enxymes...

Depends on the athlete type you are looking at.

Cheers!

I know what you mean, I could sit and explore studies for hours...

My adviser is a research fiend, he would rather do research than anything else.  He tells me I have to narrow my focus at some point because people look for a consistent body of work....

I think I have my body of work forming nicely in my head!
But I still love everything about the science!

Hey dan couple questions for ya my main man!

Im currently training at 24. but like i feel like its hard to apply alot of stuff ive learn through my certs (nasm and nfpt) some people are so disfunctional they cant even do a db chest press....So ive been using alot of machines for these people what do you think instead of trying to have them do stuff on balls and unstable surfaces?

2nd Q) What are your thoughts on taking leucine prior and post training ive read its the anabolic switch?

IE my post workout shake is 100-120g of vitargo/gaotrade powder..(just something very fast) then i was using this EAA stuff which was 12g of EAA with the vitargo but i ran out. What about adding 10g leucine to the vitargo then taking 50g whey isolate 5-10min after the vitargo?

3rd Q) How much arginine should i take before bed for optimal results and is there any other time i should take it?

And which form is the best to take?

L-Arginine
L-Arginine Ethyl Ester
Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate Powder (AAKG 2:1)
Citrulline Malate Powder

heres the website with all the goodies.

First, you have to determine what their goal is of course.  You want to keep them engaged and excited, so you want to adjust any training you recommend to meet their goal AS WELL AS correcting any imbalances.  People want to be better!

Balance and neural control, along with joint support and cardiovascular function are the first things you have to train.  Not to mention other chemical systems.

If their strength, agility, balance, neural control etc are low...then start with the simplest training to get them adapting!

Machines?  Not so good unless the goal is to develop strength WITHOUT balance etc.

2nd Q) What are your thoughts on taking leucine prior and post training ive read its the anabolic switch?

IT is a BCAA and serves as part of a group of amino acids that the body can use for energy during training ( and thus spares muscle from being catabolized.)  Yes, there is research that shows it primes the mTOR pathway...a pathway in hypertrophy.  It is one player in a big team...

10 grams seems high.  I will have to check the data to see what the efective dose was.  I thought it was closer to 5 grams.  Also 50 grams of whey protein seems quire high but I don't know your stats.  Take that all as close to the vitargo as you want...they compliment each other for anabolic effect.

3rd Q) How much arginine should i take before bed for optimal results and is there any other time i should take it?

The forms have not demonstrated any significant benefit over L-Arganine for results.  It is systemic so the point is just to have it in the body.  It works over long term not immediate.

4-6 grams.

L-Arganine (4-6 grams) works even more powerfully when L-Citrulline (200-1000mg), Vit C (500mg), Vit E (200iu), Folic Acid (400 - 800 mcg) and Alpha Lipoic Acid (10mg) per day are taken as well.  Most of this is covered in your multivitamin or antioxidant.

Ah, ok 240 pounds.  Makes sense.

Yes, planning for going down to competition weight and condition to hit your peak right before competition is something.

I would recommend you converse with Old Navy about that.  He is a natural BB and really has the knack for planning and hitting it right.
