HELP-pain 8months after boxer's break!!! - Sunday, April 02, 2006 9:34 PM
Hello!!!

I broke my hand (clean break) 10 months ago - the doctors called it a boxer's break!!! It was a clean break and I now have one of the bone fragments a little higher than the other - they didnt bother realigning it and it healed in a cast. I went to OT and did the exercises they set and when confident started using my hand for everyday activities. I didnt have a problem until now - I am now starting to develop severe pain in my wrist - so painful I can not put any weight on it or bend it completely. Has anyone experienced this?? And do you know any good strenghtening exercises that won't cause me this pain!!!!

Thanks

i'd be pised. i just had a boxer's fracture and i have a plate put in my hand to so it heals right. What bone was it that broke. As for a workout to do... grab a big ellastic band and tie it to a bar. then stand facing away from it and put ur are out and curl ur wrist. Jjust move it in all sorts of directions, it will get tireing after a while.

Your feeling pain on your wrists because it is weak and all that time it was in the cast, your muscles on your wrists has shrunk, and now since its a stabilizer, being not strong enough and now it's force being used in everday activities and as well taking most of the pressure since you broke your hand since your hand muscles are weak and you need to strenghten those as well so your not making your wrists do most of the work

I suggests you book a physiotherapists to have look at that. And they will get your strength back on your hand. If I knew more I would say but I suggests go see a physiotherapists.
