Lou ferrigno, as a perosn as much as a bodybuilder, is to this day a very humble person, who has triumphed over adversity. He was also a giant when he competed, 6,5 270.

no one will ever come close to the physiques of those guys....the physiques then and now are so different and its so obvious how unnatural the guys like ronnie and jay are its so stupid. and one day you guys will see me standing up there with the best without having to take pro hormones and/or steroids. still got 6-8 years till my peak i cant wait! :)

That back is insane...but I love Frank Zane, that pose in his picture (above) is amazing.

how does dennis wolf back look in proportion???? I don't get it fellas? Arnold savier of bodybuilding? LOL! those guys (70's) look natural? LOL! Franco was a a$$, what kind of guy enters a strongman contest and foolishly runs with a frig on his back, breaks his leg and sues? shorty after that that sport was forced overseas where the americans disappeared for over a decade.

If that staue of "hercules" from 1700's was accurate than that would be the true definition of the greatest bodybuilder IMO. I don't get it? whats with beauty pagent thing? pretty abs, under 5% bodyfat makes these guys look like "pencil necks" with muscles. bodybuilding= strong, powerful, mountain moving. leaness yet still powerful looking, a wider waist (heavily muslced) yet not a "gut", large neck, ect. thats what the "real" herc. had!!!

I must say though at least ronnie and yates big bellies are sorta in proportion with the arms and pecs. I never saw any great leg devoplment in "pumping iron" (even what could be "natural" leg development) those guys kinda remind me of the porno girls with oversized fake boobs.

Myself, because I work hard and have been for years and I am natural and always will be. No one is ever going to compete in Mr. Olympia unless the juice more likely than not. My goal is to get as huge as possible without steroids, but I have never seen any natural bodybuilders get that large. You guys can fawn over these guys all you want, but you have to take their physiques with a grain of salt knowing they are juiced. I admire natural bodybuilders far more for their efforts, despite the lesser size than the juiced guys. And most importantly, I admire myself more than anyone else in the world, and I won't share the throne with anyone else.

This list isn't a very good one, your missing quite a few people... I am still having a hard time believing Coleman is in second with 18 votes, if you folks really think he is the greatest of all time I fear for this sport in the future...
6'3" @213 Squat 1x20x275 press:200, Deadlift:475, Bench:300, P.clean:235, Squat:385 "The only failure that is final is to stop trying to improve"

Steroids for pro body builders is like protein power and creatine for us (us excluding me as i dont use them)... Ya ya we can say that steroids are bad, we can say its cheating or we can say it's not but who cares? Steroids isn't everything, sure they look bigger than any of us because they did take steroids, but it's not like they put the needle in and watch themselves grow, they still have to put the effort out and the food in, its not like they didn't have to lift horrendous(sp) amount of weight and just eat chips all day long, i respect em steroids or not! This is why sometimes on the threads they tell new comers ( don't do that that's what a pro bber would do) i can bet anything that none of us on these forums could take they're lifting program and just get away with it, they work probly harder than us.

Actually, I used to work out with similar routines to those guys and I was and still am skinny. It's cheating and cheap, I'm not judging those guys but it isn't the best thing to do and I won't do it, even if that means being skinnier. You don't really know your own strength I believe when you do steriods, so IMO, it isn't worth it. I believe I know how to bulk up now that I understand protein intake better, but having lifted so long for strength only, I don't think it is necessary to take steroids and I don't idolize people that do. They work hard, but the results are a byproduct of something artificial in their systems and that isn't wholesome.

I think it's funny that people are saying guys like Ronnie Coleman and Arnold got as big as they did because of steroids. You try taking steroids and see if you get that big. You won't.

Solomon Grundy Yet I think it's funny that people are saying guys like Ronnie Coleman and Arnold got as big as they did because of steroids. You try taking steroids and see if you get that big. You won't. How about you try getting that big without taking steroids. I think you misunderstood what he was trying to say, or are just oblivious to how steroids actually work. You can't get big just by taking them. Ronnie and Arnie were hectic with their training and even more so with their diet to accommodate that, and even then they were smart with their usage of the needle. Without heavy training and the several healthy meals of the day, with or without steroids, you will not grow. You have to be anal about these things. You can't just take steroids, train and expect to get massive. It's a lot harder and a lot more complicated than that. And above all else, not worth it - but them being able to achieve what they did is a real feat in the bodybuilding world. I hope I don't get banned or something for this post.
