What in all of your eyes is considered a good gain over a week. Ex: 135x5 this week and then 145x5 the next week. Would that be considered a good gain. Or how about something like:total 900 in a meet this month then next month total 925 at a meet. Is that a average good or excellent gain? Just wondering what to think about my gaines.

personally any gain for me i consider a good gain. to be honest with you, i would not put numbers to this question. if your are happy with your gains then that all that matters. yes i feel it is good to set marks you want to acomplish but set reasonable ones so that your not discouraged if you happen not to make it. thats my personal thought

So basically if you get your last set 1 more rep then u did the previous week it should be good. I always felt that way but wasn't sure if it was considered a good gain at all.

Yeah if youve been lifting for awhile, 5 pounds every 2 weeks is pretty good.

But asa long as oyur making pretty consistent gains your doing fine.

I agree with Klocinski on this one. I try not to anticipate my improvements in numerical terms. As long as my strength is improving and things keep growing week to week, I don't really care by how much. I'll take an extra two milimeters on my biceps over two lost any day. I'll even tolerate a little stagnation once in a while, but not for long.

Lately, I've been seeing 1Lb to 1.2Lb per week gains in lean mass, and honestly, that's faster than I remember growing during PUBERTY!

The key (for me at least) is getting a handle on impatience. Remember, this is your body you're talking about -you know, the one that took 13 YEARS just to decide you needed hair on places other than your head, LOL. This is just one of those things I think we all have a slight problem with: it can be waaaay too easy to take the speed of our gains for granted just 'cause we (well, most of us, anyway) grew like weeds when we first started lifting Smile

Yes, that's me in my avatar, and NO, I don't look like that today. That was taken back in Jan '07, and I lost most of that progress when I slacked off last year. I'm on my way back, tho, and I'm using that photo for inspiration.

I agree any gain is a good gain.  It means its working and that is fine with me.  Although if it took like 3 months for a small gain like 1 lb of muscle, then there mut be something you can do to improve your gains.
