There is little evidence that supplements containing the amino acid glutamine can enhance athletes' performance, according to a research review. Only a few fitness gurus have pointed this out. It started with David Barr, then a couple of other people (myself included) summarized that finding and pointed out that glutamine isn't all that when it comes to bodybuilding. Now the latest research shows there's no proven benefits to bodybuilders yet and in fact, there may be some negatives to actually supplementing with this. Not conclusive but it goes to show, there's VERY FEW supplements that have been proven to work.
