Hey,
I'm just getting started back at the gym after a long lay-off. I'm looking for nutritional and training advice. I work out with my husband ...but....being the classic ectomorph....he's in a terminal bulking phase and eats everything and anything he can get his hands on. Also his training would be different from mine as he has different goals. I am currently weighing 149 at a height of 5'3" . Obviously I need to lose weight.
I have been eating aprox. 4-5 times a day, lots of salad, tuna, chicken and beef as well as one serving of fruit.

I do about 25 minutes of cardio (recumbant bike) everyday.

my weight training is
day1         chest triceps
day2        shoulders
day3         Legs
day4         back biceps

I also train abs 3 times a week

Any advice you can give me towards my nutrition/training ..will be of great help.

thanx
Cathy

Sounds alright. The only thing i noticed that may be bad was the fact that you did 25 min of bike every day. You may need to mix that up a little. One day do bike, the other day run, the next do crosstrainer etc. If you keep doing bike and the same amount of time, you body will simply adapt to that exercise and you will be using energy more efficiently (which isnt a good thing when we talk about fat loss). By altering what exercise you do, the time and frequency you can get better results. Try avoid doing it too often aswell. My program has a 10 min intense workout after weights (so that you dont use up all the energy/nutrients u need to build muscle) and on the days i dont do weights i try to do a longer more moderate intensity cardio workout.

Eating 4-5 times a day is great, eating 6 is even better. By eating small meals frequently you will increase your metabolism and hence burn more fat! Smile Dont starve yourself completely of complex carbs, but minimising them is good.

I would do a cardio which will impact your fat loss better and circuit your weights with intervals of bike for your weights.

Running, step master or elliptical would burn more fat.
