I must count myself one of the lucky few. My wife works out with me and loves to be competitive. I am wondering how many out there workout with their wifes/partners/girlfriends, etc. and still have fun>

My fiance works out as well.

She works out in a all females gym. She has very little knowledge of a good workout. She wants to be stronger because she is a tiny girl. And she plays quite a bit of sports.

Softball, Tennis, Paintball.
With Paintball requiring quite a bit of strength.

Unfortunately I dont think she gets quite enough help in the gym for a good workout. As most females in her gym are in there for cardio excercises.

My wife is my #1 training partner. I can get a spot from most but she's there for me. Quality time in the gym. Smile

I'm single, but I would like to get my dad in the gym. I'm starting to get worried about his health. He is still way to young. I want him to change his diet and start exercising. I don't think bodybuilding, but losing some weight, and getting in better overall health.

Hey Bucketman! I have the same problem with my family members. I think I heard a saying. . . something like - a prophet is only recognized by those away from his home village . . . or something like that. Smile Anyway, I trying my damnest to entice my overweight parents and brothers into trying to eat 5-7 times per day. Each is looking at diets I know will fail them but I'll cross that bridge when I (they) get there. Keep the faith!

No but you have a great idea there!!Smile Unfortunately my overweight family members are so testy about exercise and eating suggestions they tend to tune me out! Smile I am working to be a great role model and s-l-o-w-l-y working my suggestions into each conversation. I'm working hard not to become a zealot!Smile

It is neat that you can get your significant others to work out with you. My wife and I tried a long time ago, but neither of us had enough patience to work out with the other. She likes to work out at her pace and I like to work out at mine. My wife hates lifting weights per say, she likes circuit training where as I love pumping iron. Smile

We enjoy other things together, but our workouts are something we reserve for ourselves. Oh well............Smile

Yes, he skimmed through it, not really reading it though. I got his girlfriend going, and I talk to her about it all the time, she is really into it, and im hoping she will also encourage him to get in there more to. He went to the gym yesterday, although his diet is my biggest concern, which he hasnt changed yet Smile

I hear you! I have adjusted my focus to include my wife's goals too. She isn't really interested in building muscle so to help her understand I mention how shapely muscle is when bodyfat is around 12% to 14%. That caught her attention! Smile I admit that I am probably not gaining as fast as possible but I am making progress. Also my wife tends to bring reality back into focus by helping me to consider long-term health goals. Another plus is we now complete on exercises where we have similar strengths. For instance, for Abs we complete to see who can do the most crunches or hanging knee lifts. This has really livened up our workouts with a new level of enthusiasm!! Smile

Here's motivation for you: I bought my ninety-two year old father (that's right: 92) a weight bench last year for Christmas as he wants to "tone up". He uses it every day.

As far as getting your spouse to work out, mine spots for me and she's great. She's small but tough as nails, and it's not unusual to hear her pushing me to get one more rep like a drill sergeant. There's nothing in the world like a pretty woman in your face yelling something like: "What's the matter pussy-boy? Can't get it up??"
