Getting into building muscle! - Sunday, August 27, 2006 1:14 AM ( #1 )
Hey all. I'm 14 and a half weigh about 143.299 punds and am about 5"10 or 5"11 and am skinny (but you can see my 6pac). I'm looking to get into starting off to get some more strength and muscle.
I have this to work with: a dumbell (can put on more or less weight on it, max is 20 kg), a punching bag, and an oval near me (for jogging). I was wondering what I should do if I want to be serious about significantly increasing my muscle mass size and my strength (like a plan of what to do to increase my arms size, thighs, get broader shoulders etc). And also would this be enough protein to eat for me?

Breakfast: 4eggs
Lunch: Lean chicken fillet burger.
Lunch 2 (recess): Lean chicken fillet burger? lol dunno??
Then dinner... random meat?

And say if eating a lot of fatty foods, those that slow down you gaining muscle or does it just add more fat and do nothing to the muscles.

Yeah thanks... i know long post but i'd much appreciate if my questions could be answered :D

Hmm well it looks like youre a bit young to get into lifting big amounts of weight. That dosen't mean you shouldn't lift, just be carefull. You should be getting 1g of protein per lb of body weight. Id say give it a year or two before you get into serious bodybuilding.

I'm not getting too serious about it, just want a few guidelines or a base of what to do cos I mean all I have is dumbells (which i can put up to 20kg). I just want to start of now so as i get older i can progress and get bigger and bigger and stronger and stronger until i get like 16 and start using the protein powders etc.
I've been looking around and people say work on like 2 muscles a day, but with dumbells is it ok to work more than 2 muscles, say 5?

Right you should first make a routine specifically for your self, this routine should incorperate all your muscle groups and should look something like this

Mon- arms/back
Wen-should/chest
Fri-abs/legs

Even with dumbells you still have pace all your muscles for the rest of the week. But the important thing is working out your whole body. For a routine look into the training and exercise forums.

since thats all you have to work with.. thats kind of difficult. plus, youre young.

if i was you i would start doing pull ups, push ups, lunges, sit ups, dips etc. with anything you can find. be creative and do body weight exercises.
