Getting Tired of seeing no results critique please; - Sunday, August 16, 2009 5:48 AM ( #1 )
I am 17 almost 18

I go up and down in weight.. its usually around 150-155.

My upper arms (biceps, triceps) are ; R/ 13.5 and L/ 13
I am around 5'8-9

I have been lifting weights for a while.. I have seen minor improvements but nothing drastic. I am using Six Star Muscle Protein and I am thinking of starting on Creatine Monohydrate.

Some tips and advice would be appreciated.

I would post the pictures but there are too many.. so here are the links;

You have a nice lat spread.  From the back, shoulder to waist differential is impressive.  Think you probably need more calories mainly.  How much do you eat?  I think with more nutrition, you'll do fine.  I was 175 at 6'1" and looked like you at 5'9" 155#.  Sounds like you're an ectomorph like me.  The other guys will help you w/diet, but I think more real good food is the key.  Good workin' out!  :)

Hard to tell, bro.  These are all "current" pics.  Without a "before" and some indication of how long you've been at it, I can't make a sound judgment on progress, per se.

I agree with JMBS, however -you do have a pretty crazy V from the back, and your arm size seems proportional to the rest of your upper body.

It seems to me that when you're just starting out lifting, the first five to ten pounds manifest as a huge improvement, then it takes exponentially more lean mass to achieve the same amount of "shock value".  For instance, my first 140-to-150 pics were jaw-dropping, but I had to go from 150 to 180 before I noticed the same degree of visible improvement.

Oh I didn't mean "Critique to see how much I have gained" I meant critique as in "You need to work more on your outer tricep heads or you need to squat more" Etc..

As well do you guys know if Six Star Muscle is a good brand? Cause I want to get on Creatine but i am not sure how to use it. I know you cycle it and start with more dosage and slowly lower the dosage but I am not sure how much you intake at a time or day.

You are in proportion very well. Don't take offense, but you can't critique pieces and parts of muscles when you don't have enough muscle to begin with.

I can say your back in your strongest point.

I don't know about Six Star Muscle, but if it fits your budget, buy it.

Imo, chest and lats need the most work.  We can't see legs in pics.  How are they?

Upper legs are pretty good, calves need some work.

I am thinking of bulking to 180 then cutting to 170 and bulking to 190-200 and cutting and so on.

I must have been tired:  I meant traps (not lats) could use some work.  Lats look good, imo.  :)

Haha I was like "Didn't he say I had a nice lat spread? HM?

Yea, I am not sure what is the best exercise for traps. I definitely want my upper middle back (traps) to be big. Dumbbell shrugs? Upright Rows? Not sure what the best exercise is to work them.

I am probably going to start a 3 day full body workout like;

Day 1; Squat 3x5, Bench Press 3x5, Dead lift 1x5 and some sort of isolation work for traps
Day 3; Squat 3x5, Overhead press 3x5, Bent Over rows or perhaps power cleans 3x5
Day 5; Squat 3x5, Bench Press 3x5, Dead lift 1x5, barbell curl 6-10x3

This with Creatine, Protein powder and lots of food and rest.

Does this sound good?

And that routine looks good to me, keep the rows for sure otherwise you have no horizontal pull

Yeh, also just want to mention if you are doing 1x5 deadlift, then that usually includes 2 ramping sets, so 75% and 90% of your 5 rep max, before doing your final set at 100%

Ramping sets?

Re:Getting Tired of seeing no results critique please; - Monday, August 17, 2009 9:21 AM ( #15 )
First set you do 75% weight of 5 rep max, second set 85-90%, and final set you do 5 rep max. You do this so that on the first deadlift day of the next week everything goes up slightly, so you'll do 75% (same weight as before) + 1.25kg, 90% + 1.25kg and then hopfully your 5 rep max will be 1.25kg higher than last week. Eventually your first ramping set will be the same weight as your original 5 rep max.

your 17 years old.. how long have you actually trained.. for a while doesn't say much.   It's more of a life long process then anything, most don't do a show until after about 5 - 6 years of training.

Just keep changing your work outs to shock your body stick to 8 - 12 reps to stimulate hypertrophy, don't worry about your lifts and focus on your diet.  It's really not rocket science. ;)

There's no one specific muscle you need to work on.  You need to squat, deadlift, push and pull HEAVY WEIGHTS!!!!! You need to eat a lot too.  Gain about 50 lbs. and keep getting those lifts up, and you will see a change.

I agree with all that besides the gain 50lbs part.  Shouldn't be striving for weight as much as you are for measurements.  out of those 50lbs he will only have about 20% muscle of that which in the end will result in looking like crap and taking longer to cut then it should.   Id say strive for like 20 or 30 for the whole year if that.

I was talking about quickly gaining 50 lbs.  I was talking aim for a long-term goal of 50 more lbs. then what he is now.

Look into more healthy carbs then protein, protein is a non sufficient source of energy.  Just do like everyone else, up the carbs lower the protein when bulking.  Increase the protein lower the carbs when cutting weight. that's all you got to do. Very simply and keep a moderate amount of fats in the mix.

LoL, I guess when enough people ask me how I did it lol.  I got an insane amount of messages on how to prepare for the cut, on bulk last time I put pictures up.

Honestly though I have genetics for it.  I don't have to diet as hard as others but at the same time my cardio gets intense. and I manage to maintain 80% of my strength.

I have been lifting weights for 2-3 years. I haven't been really serious but I used to go to the gym 4-5 days a week. But now with college, work and my girlfriend.. I only have time to workout at home.
