this site prefers not to discuss steroids since they are illegal.

That's too bad, the membership would double if they had a forum for this and in reality they are a huge part of bodybuilding. Having a forum on this topic is not illegal. Also steroids are not illegal, they do however require a prescription in most countries.

jeffking, your correct to an extent. steroids are legal if aquired from a doctor for a medical reason. BUT, if they are being dealt and used without perscription, then they are definately illegal.

Well written position statement regarding AAS usage. Anabolic-androgenic Steroid Use by Athletes It's pretty much the DB position as well. Especially point #1.

HGH legally in America HGH doesnt really count lol... thats not really conciderd an anabolic steroid. I believe they are still working on that one... doing studies on older people they showed that on 60 minutes. Steroids side effects are not a hype... Some of the things said about them are.. like body builders taking animal tranqs to calm down yeah thats pretty much BS.. But all the long term affects are the same.. Failing livers problems with bone density... Heart problems... cancer... etc.. Its almost like.. if you have balding in your family get ready to experience it early with steroids. If alot of your family has problems with stomach cancer.. Get ready to experience that early.. It doesnt just amp your muscle growth it amps everything. Body builders say its a hype because they are young.. you hear these muscle giants in their 20's and 30's talking about how the effects are a hype then you see people in their 50's like arnold saying I wish i never took steroids... or they interview people in their 50's who have taken AAS and they are all saying the same thing.. problems problems problems. your odds of having problems in your 50's is high use steroids and its ensured. Get your advice from the old timers not the youngsters.

Get your advice from the old timers not the youngsters. Steroids do not cause cancer, there is not one documented case of that. Oral steroids can cause liver problems when abused, but they are less dangerous than Ibuprofen or drinking Alcohol. They do not effect bone density in a negative way. Again they are like and prescription drug, when abused they have some side effects, but less than many drugs. I personally know many men in there 50's and 60's who used steroids in there 20's and some still do, none of them have had any medical problems. The simple fact is steroids are not dangerous when used responsibly, next time you go out and have a few beers remember alcohol is responsible for about 45% of all drug related deaths in America, and tobacco is responsible for 50%.

my question doesn't exactly deal with steriods or maybe it does, dhea? what is the general consensus concerning the use of this product? i'm 57, 5'10" and 185lb. just started to lift again, and no one in the gym is even close to my age. i'm not sure what results i should expect from a 3 to 4 times a week, push/pull routine. in my 30's i had a 450 bench, 600 squat and 600 dead lift. what would be a realistic expectation from this point forward. any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.
