From 12lb cut to 25lb bulk

So Ive finally gotten around to taking pictures after my bulk. About this time last year I cut down to 172 lbs before spring break: http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/tm.aspx?m=358391&high=crage After I got back from spring break I started a slow bulk. I got up to about 185lbs and saw my gains begin to taper off around June 08 (and still not happy with my size), so then I began to take weight gainer until I reached 200lbs. Ive maintained 200lbs for about 2.5 months now. I'm very happy with my increased size and strength gains. Now it's time to cut again and get the "beach body" back, I miss having the definition. What do you guys think would be a good weight for me to cut down to? I'm very paranoid about losing the weight to fast and sacrificing solid mass, so this is going to definetly be a slow cut. Im thinking I will cut to 192 and seeing what I look like from there. I lost my camera and live in a different house now so the lighting isn't as good as it was in my pics from a year ago, but I tried to use the same poses for a good comparison. Anyways here are my bulk pics: Back: Front: Front: Side:

Looking like you've made some good gains there. What was you bf before and after? Give an idea on the amount of muscle you've gained. Can't wait to see you after the cut. What will you do for cutting? Will you do it with cardio?

I was 172lb (6-7% bf) when I started the bulk, if you click the link to the other thread you will see what I looked like at that weight. Ive used one of those electronic bf calibrators, which I know aren't real accurate, and I'm about 10-11% bf now. I will cut with diet and cardio. This weeking I'm going to start with 10-15 minutes of cardio after my work out.

Cool, I was going to say you don't look like you put on much fat, can still see slight definition around your middle. Yeah I saw your cut pictures before. I guess if your 10-11% fat just take away that in lbs from your current weight and aim for that, prob cut down to say 190ish? I'm no expert. I'm cutting right now, how much cardio is good and how often especially to get sub 10%? My diet is clean, getting right amount of cals etc just feel that I need cardio to better my cut. What are your before and after measurements, bicep, chest etc etc.

I'm going to start out doing a 10 minute sprint after my workouts this week. Then measure my weight at the beginning of next week and adjust my cardio accordingly. Then by the 3rd week I should have a real good avg of weightloss vs cardio needed. Arms are the only thing I took measurements of unfortunately and I took my before measurement after working out for 3 months. I gained 2"+ in my biceps/arms. My chest and width over all increase equally as much if not more. I tried on all of my tshirts the other day and virtually 80% of them don't fit me anymore, so I handed them down to my little brother. This is going to get expensive. About 50% of my dress shirts and long sleeve shirts dont fit me now, and none of my blazers, suit coats, or dress jackets fit me now. This summer I am going to have to work on getting a new wardrobe. I would say most XL t-shirts will fit me perfectly now. Before I was wearing larges and mediums in some brands.

Amazing progress man, 2inches that's a lot for a year. Your chest looks the most impressive, followed by your arms. You can really see the fullness of it. Shame about the clothes! That happened to me when I started squatting, my ass grew..So most of my pants don't fit. Damn! Can't wait to see you after your cut. I think your going to look beastly for sure, you already do now!

Yeah, I havn't run into the problem with my pants yet, but I just got serious about legs about 2.5 months because I fractured my ankle last summer. I was scared to do any squatting or anything of the sort, I figured it was best to keep excess weight off the ankle through winter. I can't wait either, Thanks! I'm hitting legs hard now. I'd say my next weakest point after legs is probably my traps, which I'm focusing on as well now. Anyone else have some suggestions? Whats a good and safe weight for me to cut to without losing strength and mass? I worked to hard to cut it away. I updated my thread so you all could see a direct side by side comparison of when i was 172 and 200 now.

you wont have to worry about losing your muscle until you get your bf% lower. Id say get it off asap. I would say more 185-190 might get you where you wanna be, thats good progress though, I would tell you to bulk up about 10 more pounds before cutting, but you want that beach body.

You shouldn't be aiming to cut to a weight, you should be aiming to cut to a bf%. The easiest way to measure progress on a cut for men is to measure your waist size with a cloth tape measure. You can pretty much bet that if that measurement goes down that your bf% is going down.

Yeah, you are right. I also just started doing legs hardcore (squats, deads, straight leg deads, ect...) due to having a factured ankle. So I figure that my actual weight loss may not actually be that much because my legs should see great newbie gains for a few months ( all the better in my opinion). Thanks for the replys. And yes I want the more ripped look for summer, but when winter comes again I will definetely be putting on another 10lbs like you suggested Nmoney. Im not satisfied yet :)
