So I used a friend's guest gym membership a couple of times in the past month. I found one thing...I can't squat worth ****. Heavy squats really put a pain in my knees. It could be a lingering injury from football or playing catcher for 4 years straight as a child. I don't know. I can still crank out a crapload of body weight squats for endurance but heavy heavy squats which somebody like me should be able to do easily is really painful. I've been thinking about saving up for this little number. It fits in with my training routine as there doesn't seem to be a strong spotter necessary. I also read that it greatly reduces pressure on your knees and back and focuses it on your thighs, glutes, quads, and hams where it belongs. What do you guys think?

it looks like a pretty well built piece of equipment. it looks like it would be safer to use when at home alone then a standard squat set up. but on the other hand, 400 bucks for something that still might aggravate your knees. kinda a big investment.

i use a safety squat bar at the gym which allows hands free use. i hold on to the squat rack like in the pic below. they supposedly reduce knee and back stress. i do it this way because i feel more secure. these bars are probably also expensive plus you would need a squat rack to hold on to. so the leg blaster might not be such a bad deal. the piece the harness holds onto looks kinda small though. i can't imagine putting a couple hundred pounds on that little hook.

Ditto on that. I don't think Frank is planning on testing the structural limits of that particular device in the pic. Put serious weight on that hook and either the weld is going to separate or the hook will bend to the point where you can't get it out. BigJon, have you tried taking lighter weight to a deeper squat? How deep do you go? Do you keep your feet flat and your back straight? Ever supplemented Glucosamine or MSM?

Why don't you try hindu squats?

Like the guy says, if you're squatting 500 pounds for reps, I would bet dollars for doughnuts that you can't do 25 without your legs crying uncle.

only thing is it mentions less stress on the back but not kness. looks like the same idea as the leg blaster but better built.

I could do 300 actually. Haha. You're preaching to the wrong person about bodyweight calisthetics over here. Haha!

But bodyweight exercises are for toning, fat loss, and endurance. Not for building muscle. I'm looking to find the fine balance.

Good for you, 300 is AWESOME!

My first day I did 50 in a row and really burned.

Next day I was able to double it.

Now I do 50 10 times a day and spread it out. Good addition to squats and legpress, plus it's something you can do daily.

I have a Zane leg blaster. My usual squat weight on a smith machine is about 300 pounds, whereas 170 feels of equal challenge on the leg blaster. A review on this product can be found at:
