Fractured third metatarsal
-

( #1 )
I noticed it a few days back, there was a sharp pain on the top of my left foot when I take a step. I thought it would just go away, not knowing at the time what the symptoms were for metatarsal injuries. On thursday I was doing legs, I fininshed my session and on the way home the pain got gradually worse. I think the calf raises aggrevated it more. Going to the hospital to get it x-rayed to see if what I'm thinking is right. I had the same problem five years ago but just let it heal without going to the doctors. It took 4 months to properly heal because it wasn't in a cast at the time so I was 'renewing it' every day when I was walking. I'll report back when I come back from hospital.

Just got back from the hospital (bloody NHS). It wasn't what I feared this time - the x-ray did not show a fracture, but it did show I damaged the muscle fibers around my third toe. Just a little difficult to walk at the moment. Probably stay off doing legs for a bit.

No, my bad. It didn't 'show' it. Damaged muscle fibers were the only other possibility which the doc came up with (only after I told him I was doing calf raises a couple of days earlier, mind). I could almost see the light bulb above his head as he said 'Yes, well that could be it you see.'

Ive had this injury many times... it comes good with time and some regular icing.
