 Forearm pain

Forearm pain - Monday, December 19, 2005 2:27 PM
When lifting i get a sharp pain on my inner left forearm which causes my hand to loose it's grip.  Is this due to an injury, if so i'll take a week or so off or is it due to the fact that my left forearm is'nt as muscular as my right forearm so it needs more training?

Ohh and what i really wanna know is if i am to rest it, will i be able to workout as normal just avoiding exercises that rely on the forearm?

well when you lift make sure you keep your wrists straight like when doing curls dont let your wrists bend down... i doubt it's anything like carpal tunnel becuase that's in the wrist and hand, but always make sure your wrists are in proper form when at the computer, weight lifting, etc..

Yeah...u should be okay...I have the same problem so I had to stick with anything that didnt involve underhand grip on both hands.

Hard to say but if you test it out, be careful, use RICE if needed and like the boys said, watch form, weight, speed......if you have to then no arm work, just legs for a week!

my suggestion would be to start with low weight and work up to the weight where you are at right now.  Your forearm muscles and ligiments might take longer to catch up to your bicep.  Do some forearm exercises to help out.  I had this same problem too and trust me it sucks when you have to go back to low weight.  But after some time you will be stronger than before.
