brihead301 Thanks for the suggestions fellas. I'm strongly considering it. My MAJOR downfall would be my weekends. I like to drink my a** off on the weekends. I mean, I could always drink Captain and diet cokes, which has no carbs, but I dunno if that would f*** up the keto. After this gallon of milk I have is done, I may give it a shot. drinking alcohol during a ketogenic diet is not the best thing to do your liver can make ketones out of alcohol, so when u drink ur body will still produce ketones thus keeping u in ketosis. But the major problem is that alcohol converts into ketones easier than fatty acids, so your liver will use the alcohol first before resorting back to fatty acids. so when u drink alcohol during a keto diet, all fat burning will be stopped until all the alcohol is out of ur system!!

Daniel265 so when u drink alcohol during a keto diet, all fat burning will be stopped until all the alcohol is out of ur system!! pretty much the same on any diet.

What about drinking during the carb up, I don't see a problem in that other than the normal effects of alcohol. The only days I ever drink are the weekends and those are my carb up days anyway. CreaOtine Ok, so pure mono is still alright in keto? or did I get that wrong? Creatine is fine in general, you just run into the problem of not being able to significantly spike your insulin due to lack of carbs to properly deliver the creatine. RS mentioned that bcaa's spike your insulin a bit so it seems there are ways to still utilize the creatine.

Haha, it better metabolize alcohol first...or youd just stay drunk. DONT drink on the carb up. The carb up is the most important day of the week and its the day you build any muscle that youre going to build, so you definatly dont want to drink and go into a catabolic state. Any time besides the carb up. If I were you chalky, and I liked to drink on weekends I would most definatly switch my carb up day to mid-week.

I'm going for it!!!! I may even quit drinking for like 2 months just to see what happens. Test my will power too!!! It will be hard to not drink considering my weekends and all my friends consist of getting s***faced. But I'm gonna give it a shot.

I started by elimanating all beer and only drinking clear alcohol and not getting obliterated. Then I cut down on that even more. Im not quitting completely but I havent had any in over 2 weeks, whereas last summer ida been screwed up almost every night. Its good though cause now Im in a better mood doing all sorts of things instead of always just tryin to get a party goin.

Ya, honestly I'll probably just cut down too at first and stick to vodka and stuff. I'm thinking I'll do as you said, and have the 30 hr carb-up period during the week sometime, since I usually drink on weekends.

Day 3 begins... Do you guys drink anything besides water on a CKD? I'm thinking about getting some unsweetened kool-aid and sweetening with some stevia. Other than that I can't think of anything, it is driving me nuts.

I was doing a little planning on my nifty little program that I made: http://www.sendspace.com/file/nicuzn And, I think the hardest part about this whole thing is the carb up day. I'm supposed to eat like 700 - 800 grams of carbs in a 24 - 30 hr period. Damn, that's a lot of friggin carbs!!!

By the end of the day Im so excited to get back to the fats. And youll see 700-800 is not hard at all, especially in that many hours. I used to not watch my carb up and Id easily go through 3000g in 10 hours. Carbs dont fill you like fats and the more you eat the hungrier you seem to get.

You want to get the high GI carbs in you at the beginning and taper them down towards the end and eat more wholewheats etc

Yeah, very normal. Protein isn't a primary source of energy, so you can eat all the protein you want and still feel hungry, I hate it.

Its actually the ketones that blunt hunger not just the fat. So if your not in keto yet, that could be why. Just keep eating right now and dont worry about how much until you make the shift - even then I dont count, I just eat when im hungry and thats alot.

ya 700-800 grams of carbs isn't really as much as u think. i was exactly like RS, my first few carb ups i would take in easily over 2,000 grams of carbs. im never really full during my refeed days, i can just eat and eat, it doesn't matter how many whole grain bagels or kashi cereal i eat i always have room for more

really? Refeed stuff me without me really wating to even eat much. Once I take that first bite of heavenly cereal in the morning, or even a glass of sweet juice, I am strangely satisfied. Its like I no longer crave carbs AT ALL after even just a little taste. But last refeed, I kept smoking bud and eating cereal literally all day long, so I did crave then, lol.
