Is there a major difference between the gel cap form, bottle of oil, or the whole flax seeds in terms of heath and effectiveness?

from charles poliquin I've never been a fan of flax seed oil because if you're obese anyway, you don't have the enzymes to elongate the molecule to turn it into the omega-3s. So what's the point of using it? Another problem is that flax seed oil is usually rancid in most stores, with 40 out of 42 store-bought brands shown to be rancid in one study. And even if you can get it fresh, it goes bad very rapidly once you open it, sometimes in less than two weeks. Plus, I just found that flax oil never really worked. But flax seeds can be used for the anti-estrogen effects and for adding fiber to your diet. You can buy them whole or pre-milled, but I'd rather grind them myself.

I'm not Charles poliquin, he's a world renowned fitness coach. Fish oil is good too but it's different. If u go with flax just take the seeds

If you buy flax seeds whole, and only grind as much as you need at a time, they will not go rancid. You must grind them because they are not digestable in whole form. Buy them whole and grind them as you use them and you're good to go

If your obese: nobody here is (that I know of) In one study: I think you will agree that the findings of one study on ANY topic are not credible. Especially topics that are are studied frequently Plus, I just found that flax oil never really worked: Thats not really a point at all. I'm not convinced.

Just like nspeed said, Buy them whole at at a health food store, get a coffee grinder or a spice grinder and grind what you need and throw it in your shakes. Or buy a bottle of caps or oil. If you get oil then you need to refrigerate it. I have never had rancid flax caps, oil or seeds, I think people who say that are full of it. Stores dont sell rancid products, or if they did they wouldnt last long.

ORIGINAL: David1991 why grind them? if u put it in a shake or chew it then ur basically "grinding" it anyway Well If you just throw them in a shake whole, you are basically just assuming that all of the seeds will be ground completley and made bioavailable to your body when you blend your shake, which probably won't happen. Some seeds may not get ground up and will pass through you and you'll be poopin out hard earned money. Grinding them separate ensures that all the seeds get ground and will be used by the body.

What do you mean by rancid? Like rotten as in any food going rotten? Or bad on some kind of molecular level that we wouldn't notice ??
