'Fitness and Figure' figure
-

( #1 )
Hey, gals (and guys):) Been working out for 7 months now. Went from 185lbs --> 137lbs, from size 16 -->6. My goal is to achieve a 'Fitness and Figure' figure with great-looking abs. But I don't think I'd ever compete. It's just for the love of sport:) This is what I am shooting for: I took some pix to show you where I am right now. I got lots of work to do still, I know. I would just love to hear from someone else what do I need to work on the most. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated. http://homepage.mac.com/n.a.t/Fitness/PhotoAlbum22.html p.s. funny face due to my daughter making jokes:)

Too bad..you were going to put up pics...and now your not... A mod has to delete a thread. Are you not the competing type?

I am putting the pix on a different server as I type. As you will see, I still have a lot of work to do to be able to even think about competing. But I'd love y'all opinions anyway.

You look great. I would say you want to put on some more muscle, then tone that up. You are not as far off as you might think!

Hey girl, You are in a great place, all you need to do is probably refine your meal plan and workouts toward more lean muscle mass and tone up. I am happy to help, post your eating and training now, and I will tell you what you need to do toward your goals! Linda

Your starchy carb intake can be looked at, the breads and pastas, I would decrease or omit if you really want to lean and stick with the yams, some brown rice and oatmeal, to really lean I would omit dairy, and also look at some more eggs to add in there. Make sure the meatless stuff is not all carb. I do not see enough green fibrous veggies like broc, grn beans, spinach in there nor fatty acids like flax seed oil or udos oil. Add some almonds in there too. Cals are too low. I would also drop the dairy and soy milk (all carb) and use protein shakes instead to help increase those carbs, this way you can lean and not lose muscle yet build lean muscle mass. Bean are okay on occasion too, as is kashi but breakfast bars are all sugar and carb, no good to lean. Your work out is not bad but not enough cals to suppor those cardio days and for weights make sure you vary days of high reps and circuit with days of 3-4 set of 10 with heavier weight. The lean you see on this gal above you posted is her dieting for 2-4 months or more, progressively so if you want to get this body you need to do this slow and progressive, first the small changes I suggested by adding the items I mention and decreasing the others which are fine off season but if you want to lean you drop it for now. Once you do, we can look again in a month but if you posted a photo we can see better where you need work and how to approach it. What type of cardio? Also abs 2x per week is fine. Linda

Linda, this is some good info - thanks. As far as cardio goes. If I do it in the morning I use my bike at home. 30-40 minutes of high intensity. After my workouts at the gym (3x a week) I do HIIT on eliptical. I don't do any cardio on leg day. In a month I'll try to add an "April Fitness Level' page to the one I have now: http://homepage.mac.com/n.a.t/Fitness/PhotoAlbum22.html Again, thank You!

Just so you know how well you're doing, I looked up your BMI and it is 21, which is "within normal range," but the page also said you are in the 20th percentile: "At 20th percentile, then 80% of others weigh more than you." That should be encouraging!!! I would love to keep in contact with you, too, and I think I can offer some help also. ItalianAngel is always right...so keep up with that info! :-) Keep up the great work! You're doing awesome! And you WILL get those abs you want. Just keep it up!
